What to do - Bounce Rate VERY low

Hey everyone,

I have recently removed a plugin that optimized about half of my blog's pages and posts for certain keywords (SEOPressor - which would automatically bold and italicize the keywords i set in my pages/posts). As a result, it seems to have affected my search engine rankings and SEO on my pages. This has led to a substantial decrease in traffic - between a 50-65% drop.

However, this drop in traffic has resulted in my bounce rate to go from a 60-65% bounce rate to a bounce rate of less than 5%.

In your experience, is this targeted traffic and very low bounce rate better to monitize than having a higher bounce rate with more traffic?

Prior to this drop in traffic, I was earning an average of $8-15 a day from adsense and more with amazon.com affiliated products, CJ.com, etc... Old traffic was averaging 500-700 visits a day but now hovers around 300 a day or so... In your experience, what do you think I should do? Should I go back to using the plugin/optimizing my pages to get more traffic or focus on keeping bounce rate low?

    What does your earnings per day look like now? Are you getting more list signups or other actions from your traffic?

    Perhaps reinstall the plugin and turn off all the features. Then test turning on the features one at a time, to see if you can grab some more good traffic without sending your bounce rate back through the roof.

    Edit: 60% of 500 is 300. If your earnings stay close to what they were you shouldn't worry about the loss of junk traffic.

    Removing that plugin and a decrease in bounce rate are not related.

    I would suspect that you have your analytics code appearing twice on the page.

    I am only one person, but when I find seemingly random words highlighted and text grossly altered to accomodate keywords, I go elsewhere. But, maybe that is just me.

    mm I tried to post but I Got a database error, you need to know how many visitors you were getting before and how many now..

    This might be the issue, if you were getting 1000 a day and 600 bounce then your bounce rate will be high, if you are getting a 10 a day and 1 bounce then your bouncing rate is low...

      A 5% bounce rate does seem extraordinarily, if not impossibly, low. I agree with the others that there may be something else happening behind the scenes here.

    Checked my site code, my analytics account is only showing up 1 time on the page.
    As for visitors, previous to the SEO plugin, I was getting 6-700 visits per day at ~65% bounce rate. Since then, my traffic numbers have dipped to the 2-300 range with a very VERY low bounce rate ~5%.

    Not sure what is going on, but perhaps it is because of the more targeted traffic? When looking at AVG time on site, the numbers have went up quite a bit, so I am thinking that this may be the result of more targetted traffic that engages the readers?
