hi guys,

ive not been around for a while due to other commitments but am just getting back up to speed with a bit of free time over the christmas period.

Just been to check on a few of my youtube videos and the bit.ly url has been blocked by youtube on all 5 of my videos. Anybody know whats happened here or how i can avoid it in future? Is a little disappointing as one of these videos has over 10000 hits

thanks

What? blocked by youtube? I think the one who can block your bitly url is bitly itself .. not youtube... maybe someone report your link to bit.ly , that's why it's blocked... sorry to hear that..

I have hundreds of Youtube videos that use bit.ly redirection to link to my sites. None of the links ever got blocked. How did you find out? Did you try to click them and got a 404 error, or what happened?

I do not know about YouTube but I just went and tried to shorten a link to a clickbank product. Then when I went to test the link a screen from bit.ly came up that said the domain clickbank.net has been blacklisted. If that is the case no links that have ever been created by bit.ly for clickbank products are now working. So you all had better check your bit.ly links for any clickbank products that you promote.

In my experience, Bit.ly blocks pages that have the "Back button disabled" or an exit pop. Just point bit.ly to your own page and redirect from there.

I think you should ask it to bit.ly itself. Try to check on their costumer support.

For me, it doesn't much matter what's wrong with bit.ly because so many potential customers are (understandably) unwilling to click on a bit.ly link anyway.

It makes no sense to me to use this as a url-forwarding, url-shortening or url-concealing device. The forum's full of people who've had problems with these entirely unnecessary, unreliable third-party services. People who want to be in control of their businesses may prefer to use something like "Prettylink" or just redirect a $1 .info domain-name instead (people will click on those).
