Just joined - I've discovered a new world!

Hey guys, my name is Diego and Ive just started learning about this magical world of IM! I have actually been doing internet marketing for years on my own,...blindly apparently. Now I see the potential and Im kicking myself for having wasted so much time!!!

I own a motorcycle products business that is mainly online sales. I started the whole business as a member of some motorcycle online forums like this one, and just started selling a few things which then led me to develop a website and eventually turn it into a full time job. Thing is, I never graduated out of the forums because they are still my main source of sales. I need to go beyond the forums and reach the rest of the world!

I now have 2 online businesses; one is the parts and gear store, and now I have a site where I sell products I manufacture. The manufacturing side is much more profitable so I'd like to focus my marketing efforts there.

I'm BARELY learning about SEO, Adwords, backlinks, articles and programs to help you rank higher. Actually they don't make much sense to me yet. Id like to see if you guys have any advice for me on how to proceed, maybe what my first steps should be. I'm really looking forward to changing my strategies, and my life!

Thanks guys!

D

I would first check to see if your website is ranking for any keywords already in Google. Next, install Google Analytics to see how many visitors are going to your site. If you have enough net profit, try creating an Affiliate program to get other marketers to prompt your products for you!

Yeah you will first need to see where you are at right now in google. Have google analytics by your side like MacMiller said. Then start to ask questions from there. Which keywords do I and should I rank for? What can I do to rank higher? (create more back links to your website and optimising your website which is SEO) Theres alot of info on all of this on this forum

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Optimizing your search engine for keywords...SEO can take a loooong time. If you are making contact and sales through forums, stay with that. Cautious expansions into Twitter, Google +, or other carefully chosen networks may help.

I like belly to belly contact...or its equivalent on the internet. It sounds like you are doing that and being somewhat successful. I would continue to analyze, and go with what is working.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

    That's awesome man,

One thing, aside from ranking your main site, you can always buy new exact match keyword domains to rank and then promote your main site and products from those. Assuming your website is regular html that you had someone build for you then you'd have to edit it all yourself or hire someone to optimize for SEO.. So buying new domains and using Wordpress could save you some money/time. Wordpress is super easy to build sites on and if you can get domains with the exact keywords you want to rank for they would rank easier than your main site unless it's got some PR.. That'd be the route I would take if I didn't know html..

Also.. if you do decide to use that idea, some tips for creating new sites:

If all the .com's for your keywords are taken, you can add one letter like an x or v to the end of it and they'll still get the exact match "bonus" and rank easier.

Look into your keywords' competition before deciding to take them on, but don't get too hung up on it.

Wordpress plugins to install on new domains:

Platinum SEO, Google XML sitemaps, easy privacy policy, Google analytics for Wordpress 4.xx, bloggerhigh seo to optimize your posts (like SEO presser but free)..

Do around 3 800 word posts for your keywords spaced out every couple days, try to focus on only one keyword per domain at first. when you submit each post Bloggerhigh will tell you what you need to do to optimize better, reach for the highest SEO score possible..

Your new sites should get indexed automatically, but here's a random indexer I found - Internet Marketing & SEO Forum - IMT Website Submitter

Use seoserp.com to check your ranking all the way to position 1000:

Pagerank checker :Google SERPs checker: results many countries Google Pagerank SERPs index results web SEO tools

Then backlinks, which I won't give any clear strategy, but you can hire people here at the forum to do your backlinks for you if you don't wanna mess with buying and learning new software.. SEnuke, scrapebox, bookmarking demon are some of the programs I use. Don't ping your new backlinks at all or only ping a handful per day. It's better for Google to see them naturally...

If your keywords are low-ish competition, all the above will rank u up pretty quick. My Clickbank product review site usually only takes a week to get on the first page of Google, sometimes less and that's without an exact match domain..

Anyhow, that's some SEO stuff I've learned over the last few years that works for me.. not saying you'll definitely wanna go that route but if you do, that'll give you a head start vs learning basically the same stuff from random sources over a long period of time..

    Good luck

As much as I want to agree with everyone who says "read as much as you can" - don't make the mistake of only reading and never taking action.

Set yourself a limit "I will do research for X days and then put it into action" and than make it work.

I think this is very true! and it is really important to take actions after you have learnt something!

Set a goal, and achieve it!
