Can someone explain Amazon minus sign/chargebacks?

I'm not really in the Amazon Affiliate game but I did make a website a long time ago just as an example. It turns that over the Christmas season this old forgotten website made a few sales but what is more surprising is that I saw the minus sign a few times. I take it those are charge backs?

Can someone explain to me why there would be a minus sign?

And if they are charge backs... what constitutes a charge back? Returned items?
