AWESOME Milestone! Share it with me.

A lot of people on this forum put up very special posts when they reach milestone post counts.

I just reached a different type of milestone - and think it's far more important than how much I've jacked my jaw in here.

I have just reached 2,500 thats a a whole 25% - a quarter of 10,000 -- THANKS Given.

Normally, I'm not the most caring individual in the world. I don't normally say "thanks" as often as I should. Sometimes I don't say it even when I know I really should have. That's what makes this enormous amount of thanks so amazing to me.

The thought that so many people could say and do so many things so special that they've induced me hit that thanks button 2,500 times is just incredible. Think of how much good information - how much learning, how many grins and chuckles that represents -- on top of that, add how many really good words or deeds I neglected to hit that "thanks" button in response to.

Just the thought of it makes me want to promise to say thanks just a little more liberally from now on. Can't promise that will happen, because, well - I'm still me for what it's worth - but I sure do want to say that I absolutely do appreciate each and every one of you who has brought good knowledge, humor, comradery, and aid to others in this forum over the years I've been here.

YOU totally ROCK!

Me too, especially with the above bolded part.

Lot's of great folks adding to my knowledge, and brightening my day here at the ol' WF.

    Thanks for the reminder.

Congratulations! That has inticed me to look at some of your past post while I am here at work. There must be some nuggets inthere to receive that much appreciation

You're right about the great folks on the board and their willingness to generously share their wit and wisdom. And it's great that you're willing to dole out some thanks for it.

I've noticed some folks on this board who give out thanks as if they're giving out gold bricks -- very frugally! I'm talking about people who've been here for YEARS, you see them regularly posting, and yet they've only found maybe a dozen posts worth thanking.

Worse yet, I once actually saw someone talk about how she didn't like to spread her thanks around. No, heavens no, we wouldn't want to show someone else a little appreciation and possibly brighten their day by thanking them. Geeze, then the people on this forum would actually seem... human.

I must admit I do the same!

Not because I am not grateful but normally because I am running off and taking action on the advice and then think "Damm, I forget to say thanks for that!" - Going to make it one of my New Year resolutions!

And Thank You to you HeySal for reminding me!

    Congrats, Sal!
I always enjoy your posts. You say what you mean in a clear, understandable way. I never have to wonder..."what did she mean by that?" And I love that about you.

LOL - seems like some people have mistaken the milestone to be thanks I have received. I'm talking about thanks I felt motivated to GIVE. Um...just edited that for clarity.

Considering that I do most of my jaw jacking in the OT and most of my posts over the years didn't rack up "points", I don't come out with incredible wisdom all that often. If you think my posts you read are entertaining - kewl - but if you really wanted entertaining........ya should have seen the ones that were deleted!

Sal, the 'thanks given' is indeed a milestone.

And if we note the almost 2:1 ratio of thanks to posts with thanks, and that over 1/3 of the 'posts that count' got thanked, it looks like you give value as well as you get...

That ratio is soooooooo misleading. I probably have as many, if not more posts than Steve W (wags). I just do most of my posting in the OT so that ratio looks way higher than it actually is. Frankly - I spent my first years in here being a completely clueless newbie - way before we had a thanks button. I learned everything I know about being online from people in this forum - and shared a LOT of laughs along the way. Whatever I give back will never be more than a fraction of what people have done for me in here. That's why I am celebrating pushing the thanks button so often. It represents a whole new way of life for me.
