Using News Articles As A Part Of Blog Posts?

I’m thinking of trying to start up a blog in a niche that will depend on current events and am confused on the legality of using news articles (or part of a news article) as part of the blog posts.

I know you guys aren’t lawyers or anything, but I’m sure there are some Warriors here who have experience running current event related blogs and using news articles in them.

    Make sure you quote the text that has been used and CLEARLY mention where it came from and link back to the original article.

    Make sure that it is clear that you are referencing an article, not trying to pass if off as your own.
