Inventor's Notebook - $5 to anyone who can...

point me to something a little nicer than this...

BookFactory--Inventor's Notebook

I am going to start a notebook, and I figured I would get something nice, since it would be one of the few truly personal things I could pass down to my kids.

Yet.... even with all my searching skills (i've looked up "inventor's notebooks", "Inventor's lab books", "inventor's journals", "inventor's diary", and a hundred other terms.)... I have found nothing that stands out even a little.

All the lab/inventor/scientific notebooks are drab, imitation leather cover, mass produced crap.

Anyone know a good source where they might have something much nicer?

The notebook/Journal must have a couple features....
- sewn/stitched binding so that pages cannot be torn out/added without being evident.... and be rugged enough to stand the wear and tear without falling apart.
- sequentially numbered pages
- it would be nice if it layed flat when opened, to make writing easier.

If you know a good place to get something a little more unique and nicer... please point the way. Maybe you know someone who has made you a nice leather covered journal or such.

I'll paypal anyone $5 that points me to a place I buy from.

Otherwise, I'll just go with one of those standard notebooks from the link above.

  You should definately have a 'moleskine' --- they're built for the field. Let me find you a link. They're beautiful and will last forever.

Seems you can either have numbered pages with a faux-leather cover (as you found and I linked above) or a nice leather cover without numbered pages (lots of sources, such as Large Handmade Leather Journal).

  1. An inventor's notebook has to have numbered pages, and a binding that will make it evident if pages have been removed or added. It can be an important piece of evidence in intellectual property cases.

Try crane and company or any high end stationary shop. I prefer Levenger.com in delrey beach florida. I used to call on them and sell them hundreds of $500.00 fountain pens that they private labeled and resold to their customers. I get nothing in return for giving you this information. I was ceo of a major writing instrument company for ten years, and the best place to get fantastic journals are the two places I told you about up above. Good luck
