Google Is Not Indexing My Pages

I checked my site today with google for the heck of it, and was surprised with what I found. I typed in site:mysite.com/blog and found that out, of the 10 posts I had put on my blog over the last eight weeks google was only listing three of them. But posts I put up last week are indexed.

My site is an html site with a wordpress blog attached. I have the sitemap plugin on the blog and it is working. I went into my cpanel and looked at the sitemap.xml file. It has all the posts listed.

My main site has a link to the blog, and all the pages on the main site are well linked together.

When I found this problem I decided to check my other site which is a wordpress blog, and found two of my pages that have been up for several weeks are not indexed, but pages that were just put up a week ago are indexed. That site also has a good site map.

Does anyone know what would cause this, and what I do now to get google to index these pages and posts.

Thanks Glenn

Try submitting sitemap.xml file at Google webmaster tools account.

Not all pages are indexed though they are crawled. Give it some more time.

How long are the posts (# of words) and is the content unique or duplicated? Tell us a little more details and hopefully we can narrow it down. It may just take time too.

The content is all unique, writen by me, and the posts are approx 250 to 400 words. The pages that are not indexed are full length pages with images, links, and text.

I could submit the sitmap to google as Radhika mentioned above, but I was always told to never submit pages to google, let them find you. I don't know if that is still true.

      Thanks Glenn

  • the only thing you can do if you have a sitemap submitted is get more QUALITY links pointing at the site.

just because you make a page does not mean google will put it in it's index, if it did i would be very rich

I'm a programmer so I can make sites with tens of thousands of pages all day, getting google to index pages is a whole nother ball game.

also double check your robots.txt isn't blocking anything and look in the webmaster central to look for errors
