How Does AppSumo Do This

Hi,

I recently have been looking into CPA and buying traffic so I have been clicking alot of ads and viewing how people do it. I really like AppSumo's style.

I clicked on one of his FB ads and it took me to here:

Win a MacBook Air + One for a Friend!

So I see he is sending the traffic to his own landing page and not directly to the CPA offer landing page.

What I dont understand is how does he get paid and credit for the email submit? The email submit takes place on his own landing page and the User never goes to the CPA landing page.

Also, I think its pretty GENIUS how he gets his offers going viral and stuff. Does anyone know of any landing page templates like this for sale or anything like that?

    He's using the landing page to build the AppSumo list.

    The AppSumo list gets an e-mail promotion everyday
    so he's making his money via direct e-mail offers rather
    than sending them to CPA offers.

    He's bought the MacBooks himself and is doing his own
    offer - rather than relying on an external offer.

    It's not that complicated for them.

    They're like groupon, but online offers. They offer for like 50% off, and then take a % from the business owner on the actual sale as well.

    After they establish the typical "dollar amount per member per year" they can equate to how many free signups they need to equal out the cost of a Macbook Air.

    That's all it is. Retention metrics.
