Email Vs. SMS Marketing: Should I try the latter?

Hey all,

I need my dear warriors opinion on whether or not I should start using SMS marketing. In the start of 2012, I am planning to use an SMS marketing platform & allow my affiliate network users to receive confirmation SMS to activate their accounts. In this way, I can also send the periodic promotional updates once they are on to my SMS list.

Do you think its a good idea? While operating costs are much higher but if I can get more CTR, will it be worth? Anyone of you are using it OR plan to use ot? What do you think?

    Would you appreciate getting marketing messages via SMS?

    The only companies that seem to be doing SMS marketing successfully world-wide are the cell phone companies themselves. It isn't uncommon to get 5 or more SMS per day from cell phone companies offering cheap recharge (minutes) services or data packages.

    Other than that... I don't see a future in SMS marketing.
