Worth giving exclusive access to university students?

I have a startup that is currently only accessible by me and my developer team.
I am gathering beta email signups from people all over the globe. It is going fairly well... 130-150 signups already.

Now I am thinking of getting more signups to add to my products later success.

Yesterday, I got an idea to give U.S. university students super early access to the site [about 1 month earlier than others]. I thought that I would check them if they are really university students by email [they all have a .edu email].

So what do you think about it? Is it worth it? Should I start it?

and before I forget, how should I generate some buzz on those universities because I am quite far away from the U.S. [in Europe] to do it with the word of mouth? So preferably by doing something online...
