1sc and amember question..

Hey

I saw on some people's buy pages, that you go through 1shoppingcart payment page and after that to amember page. I think it's much better solution, as 1sc payment page is more optimized and looks more professional, etc.

How you can do it? Does it need additional coding?

It's actually quite easy. When you sign up for amember all you have to do is get the 1sc plugin (from memory) and that will allow you to integrate the two together. Amember is great for the price you pay and if you're like me and don't want to do the techy stuff the guys at amember will install it and have it up and running for you.

Then you have to work out what payment processor you want to use within 1sc. I started out using paypal but the downside to this is there is an extra step in the process where the customer has to login to paypal and then complete there order. Im working on getting a merchant account with authorize.net so i can bypass paypal altogether and make the process quicker and easier.

I think the original poster is talking about leading customers to the 1SC page first, then to amember. By default amember and 1SC work the other way around and that's how I have it set up because I didn't know you could switch it.

I'd also like to know how to get it to work this way if anyone knows the answer.

    Thanks...

The way I've set this up, is to use the amember signup page, as the 1sc thank you url.
The amember product is actually free, so to keep people from signing up that shouldnt you need to change the signup.php page and signup.html pages to another name and in signup.php tell it to look for the new.html page.
To add additional protection, you can make sure that the referrer is from 1sc or your own site.

        Thanks for post, very helpful.

Although if you do it this way, someone sign ups in amember but its not connected to payments in 1sc? What if I want this person to pay monthly as I have membersihp site? How it will work and find that person in 1sc and amember if its 'outside' the integration? Not sure if I understand it correctly.

The integration is so-so. Sure, on the first order, it works nicely, but repeat orders have to go through the 1sc process again, even though they have accounts. Amember out-of-the-box, is very handy for current members to add products.

There are other quirks and limitations and I've slowly been phasing my integration out.

What type of product or product line do you want to use it for? Maybe I can offer more things to consider.

What happens is the member orders in 1sc, and after payment are brought to the amember signup page. There they get a free lifetime signup. This means that amember is not connected to the payment system. You will need to manually cancel members in amember.
