Hey WF,
Me and my friend are looking to buy a site on flippa for $500 BIN.

But looking at the google analytics report, I am a little suspicious because the site gets 6,000 uniques per month, 71% direct traffic, 24% search engine traffic, and the rest is referring sites. There are alot of articles on the site and there is about $50 bucks a month being made via adsense.

71% direct traffic is alarming to me and I am worried he's using spam bots to get this traffic to his site, although this seller has been involved in a few transactions before and has received good feedback.

So what are your thoughts? Any idea what we should do next?

Thankyou!

Direct traffick is not good on adsense... Might be he paid for traffic... When it comes to pay traffic google analytic can track about 30% from original traffic that he paid for..

You might want to look at the date of domain registar too... If it's old.. Not much scam i can see from the site..

Adsense + direct traffic = BAD

Don't do it just walk away... Regardless if he's paying for traffic or not, the fact it's direct traffic means Google will not like it and if Google finds out it could mean the end of your Adsense account... As the old saying goes: its better to be safe than sorry.

If I was you I wouldnt touch the site with a 10 foot pole!!

I'm not saying ALL websites that have direct traffic are bad, I'm just saying ones with Adsense on them are

    Cheers....

You may want to check Alexa or Quantcast to get the sites traffic profile. This may reveal some more detailed info and any discrepancies.
