I just got finished reading a great article about the state of the economy as we enter in to 2012.

My Last Death Threat In 2011 | TechCrunch

While reading this article, it left me with a feeling of reassurance and comfort for the new year.

If you would like some perspective about the economy, you should really take the time to read this article and share it with anyone you think can benefit from it.

Happy New Year,
Joshua

That's a great article. I love the way it's written. Do you happen to know his out writer and if I can get a similar one for $5 from Iwriter :p.

I don't take much notice of the trouble it causes but I feel for the people it affects badly.

    Most people are materialistic... FACT!

It's not people's fault because it's the way we've been conditioned.

People need to learn to be happy, no matter what doom and gloom might happen. Go to Amazon and buy "The power of now."

If you implement it, I bet you won't care what you read on the news .

Thanks for posting this, a very sound article.

I so agree with his words on not watching mainstream media. You always assume that the news is something that an informed intelligent member of society should observe and keep abreast of, but the truth is that it is manipulated information designed to hook you in and keep you coming back for another fix.

The best way of ensuring this fix is to play around with the the big boys of the brain - FEAR!!!

Media induced fear is believe it or not quite addictive in that it plays with the brains chemistry in much the same way as a thrill seeker gets a fix. It taps right into your reward centre, the very primordial part of us that drives us to eat and procreate and make the whole deal keep going. Without this we would just sit back, relax and die

This is what the media plays on as do other major institutions of the world such as religion and social governance, it works very well.

You think about this....A huge catastrophe occurs such as the awful tsunami in Japan. The media kicks into full action and 24 hours a day news reels spin of footage on horrendous events, carnage and devastation. Round and round go the interviews with eye witness accounts, and in come the professors and experts to comment. All around local orbits of on site reporters gather in the hope of capturing more. In the mean time we all sit there with dilated pupils while witnessing the merry go round of horror, horror, horror and our dopamine receptors light up like a pin ball machine.

      Fast forward a little bit......

Do you see much about Japan now on the news?

      No. Nothing at all.

      Why? Hmmm....

Simply because the brains reward centre adjusts to that particular external stimulus and it no longer has the ability to the fire off the neurotransmitters as before. We all just feel detached and just go 'meh', its old news and we feel kind of guilty about that, but hey look at this, Iran! oh my god!! war is brewing!!! Onwards the media scurrys off like rats and look for the next big fix event.

Now the economy is a great one to get the brains wires buzzing with fear and trepidation. This is something which can be brought a lot closer to home. You could lose your job? What then? You could lose your house? You may have to sell you children and end up on the streets selling your own body just to eat. Oh my god, I must stay up to date and see what the experts are saying? Numbers spinning, the markets are down, there up, no there down again! Politicians are meeting late to discuss the next stimulus - Crash! End of days, Armageddon. Must buy gold, guns and canned food, arrgghhhh!!!

In cold sober light of day we should stop watching the crap, but we keep going back for more and more, much like a junkie does to his drugs.

If anyone thinks my ramble is pseudoscience, here is a ext ref:

PLoS ONE: Convergent Processing of Both Positive and Negative Motivational Signals by the VTA Dopamine Neuronal Populations

My summary - unplug from the crap and do your own thing. 2012 is going to be mind blowingly awesome. Being alive to expierence this current time is a huge blessing, so enjoy the ride!

We have nothing to fear, but fear itself!
