Intrusion Detection Software: Anyone use it?

I'm trying to figure out if I even need intrusion detection software for making dozens of micro niche websites... Just got done doing some risk analysis and figured it's better to be protected.

If I do need this software, I need to know what software is good enough to do the trick. Are there any free ones out there that are really good?

If any of you have any experience with this, I'd love some feedback.. thanks! :rolleyes:

    What do you mean by intrusion detection software?

    Is that some kind of software placed on the server to protect the server from hacker? or something else?

      Just had a micro niche site hacked and added bulletproof security plugin along with login lockdown. Any wordpress site can be vulnerable.

    Well actually i'm not sure... I think that IDS might be just for networks. But I was lookin for something that could protect my Wordpress site so I don't have somethin happen like what happened to Gabby! Sorry to hear that
