Amazon links vs. widgets, interested in comparisons

I have a lot of advertising blindness, but I'm starting to notice that I never seem to take amazon widgets very seriously when they're placed on sites.

I'm just starting to integrate amazon on the current project site i'm working on, and I'm using a lot of centered links (I have 6 next to each other on one page), but I also have the availability of a widget.

Is this a per-page test, or has anyone come to general conclusions about links vs. widgets? I love the way the links look (detail for each product, excellent size), but I'm a little skeptical of the performance of widgets.

Any feedback, advice or past experiences welcome
-Adam

    Personally, I think links look much better too, but it depends entirely on what goes best with your website, and where on the page you will be placing the widgets/links. I know people who have tried out both, and generally they have used links because they fit in better with the theme of the website page. Clicks wise, I'm not really sure what the comparison is. I know a lot of people ignore widgets, but then humans have developed a characteristic to ignore all external links unless they are more than interested. I'd say go with what you think fits best with the site, and don't worry about performance at this stage.

    Avoid widgets. They convert poorly.

    Text links in your articles or reviews work the best.

    But you should test yourself. your site may be different for some reason.

    Links work the best, if you must have widget, you need to experiment to know if its going to be good for your products.

    ya, i'm doing 6 links, centered at the bottom of the article. i have 2 other affiliate links inside of the post (one is a simple banner with $5 conversions, the other is related to a video for a service i'm promoting that is $30/conversion).

    adsense at the top, amazon links at the bottom. basically quadruplemonetizing all over these pages lol. i have 5 pages that should break 12,000~ views/month once they hit #1 (and they will hit #1...60-backlink competition, yawn).

    im also taking the approach of halfway insulting my viewers if they dont own the product im promoting. elitism marketing 2012 if ya namsayin

    Hy,

    in the amazon bible ebook, I found few good tips. But the author does recommend some different wp/ amazon widgets/ plugin, he said they convert very well, is that true?

    Or is it better, I dont use any of them, only put in my reviews at the beginning (above) a direct textlink with an clickable image to amazon like this;

    "Click here best deal for xxxweighloss drink" on amazon or so? (best seller products with high price over 200$)

    Or does a best seller list converts much better? Like a own created best seller list with text link like Darren Rowse?
    So; begin with a little review of an product, and at the end a list of 10 best seller products in text links, like;

    review about weight loss drink (you get the idea) bla,bla,bla....
    the the list; " I recommed this best seller products on amazon for you;

    wightloss drink.... (only textlink with your leyword)
    weightloss .... (only textlink with your keyword)
    weightloss...

    and so on.....you knwo what I mean.
    What do you think ist better to get high conversions?

    best wish and a successfully year 2012
