Lulu Advice - optimised ebook and physical book formats.

Hi,

I am working on some public domain works that I want to sell online - that bit of work is going well

But I've realised something fundamental - that the ebooks I'm producing are optimised for A4/Letter size paper.

Personally, I don't like trying to read an A4 book on the train, or carrying it around, so I am worried physical format books in A4 will be a turn off. I prefer using a standard "paperback book" size if I'm going to carry the book around for any length of time. Something that fits in your pocket.

I've got a virtual assistant that can do the reformatting, if required, so that's not a major issue.)

As the mark up is not so good with selling physical books, I would only provide rare books in this format, the ones that second-hand book sellers sell online for say $50+ - I wouldn't do "gutenberg stuff" in this way - too much competition...

What are other people's thoughts this issue? Is it worth doing the optimisation? If someone's paying a lot for a book, does it look "bad" if it's a rehash of A4?

Thanks for any advice.
