Where Do You Get Your Traffic?

I did a very generic search, with the thinking that if I could pick a really generic phrase that should appear in most sites, then I can get a relative idea of how many pages Google has in its index.

The phrase that I used for the test has already appeared in this post 3 times, "the"... :p https://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=the

Google kicked back 25-1/4 Billion search results... Notice the "B" in Billion.

I really believe that number is way small, but it does help me to illustrate a point.

So back to my original question...

Where Do You Get Your Traffic?

Google? Yahoo? Bing? FaceBook? Twitter? YouTube? Yep, these are pretty obvious.

What other websites send you traffic?

Just a few? Seriously?

There are easily more than 25 Billion pages on the Internet that COULD BE sending traffic to your websites...

Yet, most people are receiving traffic from fewer than 1000 web pages...

Most people we talk to online recommend that the above-mentioned websites are the "only websites that matter", because those serve almost everyone online in one form or another!!

The truth is those big sites do serve A LOT OF TRAFFIC!!

But, there are also another 25 Billion plus pages that most people are simply ignoring completely!!

When you find yourself staring opportunity in the eyes, do you turn your head and walk away?

Or do you say, "Hi. My name is [insert your name here]."

I would say a majority of my traffic comes from a variety of different forums and offline. I am not nearly as diverse as I should be though!

I want to crack in social network marketing. That seems to be one of the best ways now a days to get some quality, convertible, viral traffic.

    Cheers! -Mac

    You are right on that.

I buy a lot of traffic from obscure high traffic sites.
It's cheaper and it converts better.

In addition, there are tens of thousands of times that amount offline.

Facebook is now my favourite source of getting high quality referral traffic to both my fan pages and niche sites.

All you need is a fan page (with a decent opt-in funnel if you looking to build your list) and a VA who can post on high traffic fan pages everyday. This is simple, easy and a lot quicker to implement than traditional SEO.

Most of my traffic comes from article marketing, forum marketing, blog commenting and facebook commenting. I am learning other ways. Getting into PPC and expanding.

Traffic is coming from a articles I have written, forums that I participate in, some organic search starting to show up and referrals. My second solo email ad is going out this week and if it is anything like the first I will have to hire some people to work for me to get all the work done on a timely basis.

I would love to hit the 25 billion mark just to see what the problems would be.

You should get traffic that is measurable and controllable. Google isn't They change all the time. Facebook. While they do have a huge volume of traffic going to their site every day, they call the shots and can change the rules of the game at any time. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Do solos ads in new letters and solo email marketing. banners and other forms of paid traffic is the fastest way to get traffic now. Seo can be effective but it takes time. Article marketing is another good way to generate traffic and it's free. Forum posting and blog commenting is another way to get traffic for free.
