Membership site owners - lets hear from you!

I am on the verge of completing a new project, which is actually a paid membership site where members who pay the monthly fee are entitled to:

A) 2 squeeze page templates monthly

B) 2 sales page templates monthly

C) 5 MRR ebooks every month

However, i realise, that in order to maintain some sort of continuity, i must add more stuff/content to the paid members area, but this is where i get really stumped. So, for anyone running membership sites, care to share any new ideas for content or products that i could offer to my paid susbcribers? Its ok if you wouldnt want to reveal too much..Just a main or core idea will do. I am sure it could benefit other aspiring membership site creators as well Thanks in advance for your participation..

If you've already laid out what they get each month why do you have to add anything else?

This reminds me of my first WSO, it's normal that one would read to learn but I wanted to learn while doing. So I came up with a pretty neat simple product called BlogSplash, which is basically images that you use in your blog post to colorize the post.

My original price was something like $27 and I sold about 35 packages which was great. Now this was also a learning process too as I said I wanted to learn while doing. I learned I needed to include a sales letter and such with the package.

I also learned that some simply have no respect for products when it comes to MRR. This was my frist WSO and it broke about $1,000 in sales but some of the people that purchased the product turned around and slapped up a sale page using my text and sold the product for as low as $1.99.. Obviously that killed the WSO right there but not only that is also hurt the sales of those good customers that was selling the product at a proper price.

This is the problem I see with MRR type membership sites. Many will not have respect for the products and when that happens it kills all sales for everyone involved. Because the content is the same for all members then this will have an impact of those members paying that monthly fee.

If you want to have a true MRR membership type site then the best way to do that is by doing the following:

    * When members signup they are to agree and adhere to the regulations of the site. These regulation should include price points, distribution rights, and other factors that concern MRR of a product.

    * Each package in the members area will have a limited download. Each month you will have several different niche products for the member to choose from and when they choose that is the product they get for that month. For example let's say you have the following 3 products for Feb.

~ Pet Health - 2 squeeze pages, 2 sales letters, video, 10 articles, 2 ebooks
    ~ Weightloss - 2 squeeze pages, 2 sales letters, video, 10 articles, 2 ebooks
~ Online Dating - 2 squeeze pages, 2 sales letters, video, 10 articles, 2 ebooks

Each of this will have a limited download, so if John Doe chooses to have "weightloss" for Feb then the other 2 downloads are not longer up for grabs by John for Feb. So in reality all members are getting what you specify but you are giving them a choice on which product.

    You may ask why ....

It's simple because this will keep a tab on flood control issues. The members still get great value because the product is in-fact limited to only a certain number of copies. Not only that but the member gets more value because now he/she has a choice of what product to advertise that month.

If a certain product does not meet it's set downloads then it remains until it does. Those products that have met their limit are removed to any other member.

    * When a member selects a product then that product should remain on their account incase they need to re-download later. As stated above though the download is removed if it's limit has been met, it only remains for those that selected it.

I could write out an entire plan but I think you get my opinion on why I dislike membership sites of this nature. I probably just gave away too much information and some guru lurking in the shadows is going to go and build this now ..lol

Hmm. I think what Hidman wants are more ideas to add to his membership site so that he is able to offer his members more things other than the 3 already listed. Sort of having his members getting more bang for their buck.

I can't really think of any ideas now but when something comes along I'll be sure to share it

Just wanted to help get this topic back on track..

The amount of content you are providing to your membership is relevant to the price you are charging for your membership.

Less content and better quality can work out nicely.

One thing you will need to remember is that maintaining a membership is a lot of work.

If you just keep adding stuff that has lesser value, then you are not really providing a service, you are just adding stuff.

Plus once you have set the tone for your members they will expect the same month after month.

    Talk to you soon

actually, for what he is trying to do...he barely needs to touch the website.

If he gets enough members he can outsource at least the books and still be profitable.

Thanks for the contribution guys. Actually, Steven is right. I need more ideas to add value for my subscribers, even though the monthly subscription they pay is quite low. Any other ideas for content or products that i could offer my members?

    Hidman,
This is not just about value or quality to your members, it should also be about long term profit for your members. This is why I made the suggestions above because the fact is if I was a monthly paying member and I found 2 or 3 other members selling this stuff for well below market value then I would cancel my membership in a minute. I promise you that I would not be the only one that would cancel either.

When it comes to MRR you have to be very careful, you can offer all the products in the world with the highest quality but if there are those selling the products for $2 a pop then it destroys any chance of other members making profits. If your members can not make a profit do you think they will continue to pay a monthly fee ???

Let you in on a little secret ... When people see a product that they want guess what is the first thing that 80% of them do is ?? They go directly to google and type in the product name and try to find a better value, cheaper price, easier way to get the product.

So if you do have some that are in-fact underselling the market and 80% of the people search google before buying, then you will have many members that will never make a penny.

This is the exact reason why many that sell PLR article packs limit the number of sales. They sell too many and the PLR becomes useless. Same applies here, trust me..

Any long time marketer can chime in here and tell you what I post is correct..
