Legit order from Nigeria?

I'm not trying to profile Nigerians, but I know of a lot of people who have been scammed. Please tell me, if anyone would have a clue, if this email I received from one of my sites (that is monetized for an Amazon product) sounds legit? -
"Please kindly send to me the Proforma Invoice of [amazon product] of a month supply each for ten(10) persons for family use through UPS or FedEx courier services to this address: 1 Freedom Avenue, off Palace road, Omoku-ONELGA, Rivers State, Nigeria.
Best wishes."

Has anyone ever used a Proforma Invoice and know what it all entails as far as if I would need to dish out money for the products (which, of course, I would never do and would then know for sure that it is a scam!)?

On eBay, I got a large order from a Nigerian man. I was real suspicious at first, but it actually turned out to be legitimate and he gave me another 10 large orders. We're talking about $500-$800 orders. I was selling metaphysical supplies at the time and he was starting a store in his country and re-selling the merchandise to his customers.

It's tough to say. I'd go with my instincts. How is he going to pay?

Not all Nigerian are dupes, there are more of internet scammers from the developed countries than africa and asia. The united states still top the list of countries with the highest scam.

I really don't want this thread to become a racial/profiling discussion and I'm sure everyone knows that there are scammers everywhere, but, I am just trying to make sense of what this guy is asking of me, if it's legit and could anyone explain the process of doing this sorta thing. Both Amazon and UPS were worthless!

This is money that I could be making and don't want to blow it, nor waste time on worrying about what everyone thinks about Nigerians, Americans, Mexicans, etc.. I was scammed big time by a Canadian and have gotten a few Nigerian emails trying to scam me. I just don't know if this is what this is.

That has nothing to do with the thread or the question asked.

Simple answer: It's an amazon link and they can order through Amazon.

The ProForma can be an intent to purchase - sort of like a purchase order. In exports it is often used to open a line of credit for an order. You don't want to go there.

Often such a request is for multiple items in the hope the potential for large profit will blind you to the scam.

That sounds extremely suspect to me. Google "Please kindly send to me the Proforma Invoice" and you will see what I mean.

I'm not understanding why someone would even want to do it that way (Proforma stuff) if the product does get shipped from Amazon to oversees?? I just wrote to a company who I know has sent out this same project abroad. I'll let everyone know what their reply is.... thanks for all your answers!

I think Kay answered the question best - and this is not about what countries run the biggest scam, etc.

It's an impossible request. If you are selling Amazon products via an affiliate link you CAN'T send an invoice - the buyer has to purchase through Amazon.

Likewise, the shipping arrangements are nothing to do with you - how Amazon delivers orders is up to them.

I'm sorry, but that email rings my alarm bells. I would email back and politely point out that the sender should purchase from Amazon in the usual way.

Sounds like a scam. Besides, how to you make a commission with Amazon by doing anything except your customer clicking through the links and purchasing?
