What is the best press release software?

I'm promoting a new tech business and they're going public tomorrow. They want to submit a press release but mainly for brand exposure for VCs and large companies. Pressbot doesnt look bad but I want to submit it to thousands of targeted PR sites. Press Release Submitter by SubmitSuite.com looks great but it would be better if I could get away with a cheaper solution. Anyone used those or have any insight? I'm not too concerned with building backlinks or SEO, this campaign is more for just getting their name out and going public with their new technology.

I manually submit to prlog and use pressbot from incansoft for the others.
It was on special offer at $7.77 over the holidays using the code CELEBRATE.

      See incansoft.com

      Hope this helps.

By "going public" you don't mean an IPO, correct? I assume you simply mean a public announcement. If it's an IPO, you can easily afford to use PRWeb, which at $80-$300 gets mainstream distribution.

Failing that, I did this post last year updating use of the best free press release sites: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...id-2011-a.html

Never, never forget that the very best place to deliver your press release is to popular media outlets in your target market. Target it correctly and the editors will welcome a personal call. If I were introducing an online auction technology, I'd call Ina at ecommercebytes. If I had invented a new kind of craft, I'd let Chad at etsy know, and so on. Try this approach without the respect and laserlike targeting each media outlet requires and deserves, and you'll damage yourself for years.

What kind of results are you getting by using PRLog and Pressbot together? I am considering Pressbot but wanted to know what kind of results others are getting from it.

I found about 70 free pr publishing websites a few weeks ago, as long the pr is news, it will get published in a few hrs. Haven't used the software but PRWeb has some reasonable options.

The oldest say on the book, you got what you pay off.

Cheap and free PR services are worthless. If you want to get some good backlinks and visibility you will have to pay $$$.

Yeah, you certainly don't need press release software if the primary aim is exposure and brand awareness.

I would probably go for a paid one with PrWeb.com

I also use emailwire.com on a regular basis, which is excellent if you want to submit regular press releases as you can get unlimited submissions for a monthly fee.

But if it is a one off one, then PrWeb.com is a good bet.

Press releases by nature tend to get syndicated across multiple news sites, so there is a good chance that one well written release will get syndicated around the place quite nicely without the need to submit it via different platforms yourself.

I think it is also a good idea to include a common keyword in the press release to help it get noticed. A keyword that describes the niche or industry. Not for SEO purposes, but because journalists and people in that niche might well have their Google Alerts set to automatically let them know when a press release containing a generic word such as "fitness" or "technology" is mentioned.

I've gotten my press releases picked up by some pretty big news sites by using what used to be fastpitchnetworking.com that is now proskore.com.

Of course, the key is to have a really good title and make sure that the entire PR sounds like a PR and that means it is newsworthy. If you can in any way tie it to current events in the news, the better.

I would say TextWrangler. I write all my texts in that program. If you're a Windows user, it must be NotePad.

I bought PressBot thinking it would do what it advertises. Boy was I wrong.

It seems this software has not been updated in years.

It has 27 sites listed to which you can supposedly submit press releases. Not a big number but good enough.

The fun starts when you try to open accounts with these 27 sites. Most of them are out of synch with PressBot's signup program. So I basically had to manually sign up for all of them. In fact it will be a lot faster if you do it manually. Activate Auto Fill on your browser and it will be less painful and faster.

The next step is submission. It does not work - again because the format in which the target sites are asking for information, PressBot does not deliver. So you are back to manual.

Of those 27 sites, more than half seem to belong to the same person / company. They are identical WordPress sites which may be more suitable for article submission than press releases. Maybe Incansoft owns those sites also as they don't seem to have been updated either.

Even on sites where PressBot works, it does not upload the keywords / tags.

Result: Out of 27 sites, it was able to submit to 9 sites. All the others you have to do manually.

I think I got cheated out of $30.

Save your $30 and submit manually. Use Auto Fill on your browser and it will be faster than trying to grapple with a software that was probably written 10 years ago and never updated.

No wonder the guy does not offer a refund. He knows what he is selling.
