Client threatening me to close my Paypal

A client had paid me $10 but the charges got disputed. I have already done the work. She is threatening me that I scammed her whereas I have not got paid for my work. She says she will call Paypal and get my account closed. Can she actually do this? How can I save my account?

Preempt her and call paypal yourself.

Just inform paypal that she has never paid for your service as evidenced by the payment reversal.

She is trying to scam you, and if paypal is aware of the issue in advance, it will only strengthen your position with them.

I can't call Paypal as I am not in US and don't have a local number for them in my country.

  • For $10, highly unlikely. If however you receive a lot of complaints on a regular basis, then possible.

If you get into your account and go to the Help section -- Contact Paypal, they will show you a phone number in a nearby country, if not one in your own country.

Otherwise, use the Contact Paypal form on their website.

As long as you are not in a country that is against the PayPal terms, you really have nothing to worry about. But preempting her complaint will ensure that she cannot screw you.

I agree. If you can call ahead of time (or contact them via email) you should be fine. Also with it being such a small amount and hopefully your first time "offense" I think you would be in the clear.

This is impossible. By simply informing PayPal that she disputed the sale will be enough to stay safe. Your account will definitely not be banned, don't worry about that. Instead, send her the invoice of $10 stating that she disputed the sale and you'll take action against her. Watch her come begging to your on her knees.

No, she can't actually do this. I wouldn't worry about it, nor would I waste any time calling Paypal. If she paid via Paypal and has disputed the charges, they already know about it anyway. If she didn't pay via Paypal, they couldn't care less what you did or didn't do to her. It's none of their concern.

I agree with black hat cat - don't worry about it. If it's your first dispute then let it go through and Paypal will either make the decision to refund her or close the dispute without a refund.
If you're really worried about it then just refund her - I know it's not right to do work without getting paid and based on what you've said she is clearly wrong - but is it really worth being stressed over and wasting time over for $10. Maybe it's easier to give her the refund and just make sure you never do any work for her again in the future.
