Amazon Kindle slap - Anybody know this answer?

I keep hearing about how people get their kindle ebook account "slapped", or banned. Sometimes the reason is obvious (junk ebook) and sometimes it's not. What I want to know is what happens to the earnings from their ebook when this happens. Does Amazon refuse to pay the person for royalties earned up until that point? For example, if a person earned $2000 in January and $3000 in February and Amazon decided to give them the "slap" come March 3rd, will they forfeit all $5000 of those earnings (unfortunately commissions are paid 60 days after the earnings)?

Would love to know the answer on that, preferably from someone who's experienced it.

Thanks.

I have not experienced this with Amazon, But I know people who have.

Any commissions owed but not already paid are forfeit. The reasoning is that at least a portion of the commission was earned by violating the rules to the extent that the account is closed, and that there is no way to tell which sales came from legit tactics and which came from cheating. So they keep it all.

Most programs are this way. Get caught cheating and forfeit your earnings.

EDIT: I misread the OP. My comments relate to the Amazon Associate program. "Sorry about that, chief..."

I don't know specifically about this answer in regards to the Kindle, however the impression I get is that if affiliates break the rules all earnings are withheld. I would assume Kindle publishers who get banned face the same fate.

The best thing you can do is to read this https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help

The second thing is to make sure that if you are following some kind of "Make a million" Kindle guide, published by someone that has "actually not" made any money publishing kindle books...

One of the biggest problems, is that so often you have these "fly by night" publishers that publish a bunch of trash without actually reading....

    The fine print... https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help

If you play by the rules, you can achieve a lot by just knowing what the rules are.

He is not the only one who teaches Kindle stuff. Same information can be found in a few WSOs here.

I have never heard that somebody got their account banned.

But maybe I am not talking to the right people - or in this case the wrong people.

Sooner or later, if something gets abused, it must be taken care of.
