url age or url name - which one is more important

i am launching a sleep aid product. i have a domain that is 10 years old but has 0 google ranking - www(dot)myproduct(dot)com. I also have registered a www(dot)myproductsleepaid(dot)com domain but it is only 9 days old. Which domain do you think I should launch with to maximize my PPC success within the sleep aid arena?

wow, www(dot)myproduct(dot)com is a great domain, my advice is don't waste time and develop it (it can be for affiliate marketing for example).

I would use use both :-) but if you have identical content don't link them to each other

If it's PPC, then I wouldn't think that age matters, since there will be no effect on SEO rankings etc.

For PPC, the name would matter the most, since that's what people see on the advert and the name needs to make them want to click.

Cheers,

I don't think age matters at all if you haven't done anything with the domain. I have domains 10 years plus...big deal!

You can definitely use both and try post more affiliate links on it. Your first sites domain name is more striking try focus more on it. Maybe there's a reason behind why its still up ten years after aside from paying maintenance on it.

The www(dot)myproductsleepaid(dot)com is the better one because it has your keyword in it. I have had a site ranked well, that had a good keyword in the domain name within two months or so.
Better still you can use both.
Just my 2 cents

Neither matters if you are paying per click. The only consideration would be how someone who looks at the URL itself in relation to the solution to their problem....

In a non-ppc setting, I would probably go with the aged domain, although I have heard some rumblings in the SEO world that google "resets" the domains (which is why some people will opt to purchase domains in private). Another consideration when dealing with aged domains is to grab a previous cached copy of the site and try to replicate all the pages....

Ok, here's my opinion FWIW.

How about launch the product under myproductname dot com, then build a WP blog or content site on myproductnamesleepaid dot com. That way you could maximise the keyword in the domain with keyword rich content.

Hi,

You could use both to market -- the old domain to setup your sales area & direct PPC. Perhaps, the second to run a blog for SEO traffic, reviews, video, etc.

I'd then setup Google analytics to test *conversions* and then put more money into the PPC traffic of the site that has a better ROI.

Success,
Sam
