What gives? I just had two threads deleted. If I broke rules I wish the admins would just let me know and lock the thread.

Am I not supposed to talk about indexing and backlinking new sites in an Internet marketing forum? I did not think I was talking about anything black hat

Perhaps the mods wanted you to put the threads in the right section. That would be the SEO sections.

    That's just a guess, btw...

I would have no problem doing that. Although every other forum I have been a part of, when someone posts in the wrong section, a mod will move it.
      My threads got completely deleted

This isn't "every other forum" you've been to.

You've been here way too long to expect to get away with continued posting in the wrong sections. And you should know better than to start a gripe thread about deleted posts. Unless you're looking for some extra free time to work on those resolutions?

Don't take it personal, threads get deleted everyday.

Anyway read the rules, this can help:

    5. If your thread is deleted, do not re-post it. Do not post a thread asking why it was deleted. Read the rules, watch how things are done here, and figure it out. This is not complicated stuff.

    Why are your posts disappearing?

    You obviously missed

    2. Post in the appropriate section of the board. Questions about SEO or posts asking for advice on specific products belong in other areas. Not Main Discussion. Post them here and they're more likely to be deleted than moved.

      Peter,

Yep. Thanks. That whole "repeated advance warning" thing was pretty much a waste, though. The same smart people keep doing the same dumb things. I'm not going to waste any time with it this year.

      Wrong forum? Deleted.

Don't like answering a post and having your helpful answers deleted, folks? Don't reply to posts in the wrong sections. Follow Istvan's example and give them the link to the right part of the forum for their questions.

Posted in the wrong place and don't like that we deleted it? Tough noogies, Pebbles. It's your question, and you benefit from the answers. Whose time should be spent making sure you're asking the people best equipped to answer it effectively? The moderators' or yours?

New, and didn't know any better? Your fault. It has always been customary for members new to any online group to read the rules before posting. It's not as though those stickies at the top of the main discussion section failed to mention this, in rather explicit and precise terms.

          Mike,

I've long known that new folks tend to get a little miffed and then realize the rules exist for a reason when you explain things. A very few get nuts, but they're easily dealt with.

The real problems are longer term people who simply ignore the rules, or don't give a rat's tail. Or the morons who get banned and come back in under another name, looking for a fight. Those groups are the ones who waste everyone's time.

So, I've posted the explanations above, and have prepared a boilerplate to use when someone does this. If they argue after reading the boilerplate, they'll just get a brief layoff. Regardless of how long they've been a member.

Someone argued with me earlier today about being asked not to paste a signature file into his comments in the WSO section. My response was to inform him that the price of doing that in the future would be the deletion of his most recent 25 posts, every time it happened.

If this stuff hadn't already been explained clearly in rules posts, I could see the questions as possibly being valid. I'm usually pretty patient with that stuff. But when someone who's been a member for 5 years or more argues about a clearly posted rule...

Screw 'em. They get to waste their time. Not mine.

And I get to point them back to this post for an explanation.

Perhaps I suggest you read the rules briefly. I guess thats what the mods want you to do also and everything else is just common sense. I dont meant to offend anyone on that

yeah, man don't take it personal. threads do get deleted everyday. Just be thankful you didn't end up getting banned or anything. Now that would have been really bad.
