Hi Fellow Warriors,

Please help me understanding following:

(i) Wordpress is an application for blogging & creating websites. What are its other uses (I mean for what else it can be used)?

(ii) If one is using wordpress for blogging & making websites, does he/she needs to know html & php & what for?

Thanks & Regards..........cbnet:confused:

You don't need to know any php, HTML, or CSS to use the basic functionality of Wordpress. Knowing a little HTML and CSS will make life easier if you want to customize.

There is no need for an average user to need to use php. Advanced users, yes. 95% of folks nope.

    Hi,

Wordpress can be used as a content management system, there are ways to use it as a membership site, social network site, etc. Basically most types of websites that exist can be created using Wordpress.

If your trying to make modifications to a wordpress template knowing some PHP goes a long way. you don't want to mess up the structure of your site trying to modify your template

No, you only need to know the php, html, and css of the platform if you are trying to do some sort of custom work. For example, many people design their own themes in photoshop and have a programmer make them wordpress ready.

If you are just blogging, simply find a professional looking theme and get to work!
