You could use Mediafire to host the file

Yep, you dont need to send it or host it. Just a link where your clients can download it themselves.

    Hello,

Amazon S3 makes for a great, reliable storage platform as well. The free version will give you about 5 GB of storage space--more than enough to hold your files. As Mary mentioned, you can then provide a link to the S3 location where your clients could download the files.

    Enjoy....

Delivering goods that size has lots of potential customer service issues.

If it's 1Gb, remember that it will take quite a while for many to download.

Let them know up front about that to head off any complaints (or at least limit those complaints).

Also, break it up in any bite-sized pieces you can so that the downloads can be done in chunks vs a single 1Gb zip file for example.

Perhaps most importantly, consider this - is everything in that 1Gb pure meat, or is there a bunch of fluff?

I'm not saying your product isn't good, just consider that if someone downloads that much info and it's not solid, they'll be pretty unhappy.

    All success,

    Gary

I would delivery the content digitally i.e the book, then in the book contain links for sections the user can download from. Rather than giving them 1GB hit in one go not everyone is on 100mb cable.

The links if you have real value for money content you can track which sections are most interested to your buyers, free info what people want and what people don't want. At least you get some kind of data at the end of it for future releases, what to include and what not and what you could branch off to make more money on further down the line.

There are very few products I have come across that are anywhere near a 1GB download. Personally, if you want to make a lot of sales and I am guessing you do, I would rethink things and get the course down to a much more consumable size and format.

If I saw a course that was a 1GB download I would most likely not purchase it. Not only because of the time taken to download but it also tells me there is a huge amount of information I am going to have to get through.

Please remember, less is more nowadays. People don't appreciate fluff so try and water down your course to only the information people really need to make things work. If it takes over 1Gb worth of data to teach someone a certain topic then I am guessing it must be a very complicated topic?

Too often people try and beef up their course just so they feel comfortable charging more money for it. I'm not saying this is what you are doing but don't make that mistake. The easier and quicker the information is to consume the happier your customers will be.

If your going to self host the video etc, I would check your bandwidth restrictions, even UNLIMITED does not mean unlimited in the fine print. Just encase you never know...

Amazon S3 is great for this! As Wilton White stated. Also just look online there are several backup services you could use for this type of situation. Also as others have mentioned you can upload it to sites like mediafire. You could even deliver it in parts.

    Best of luck,

    Dan

I hope you're going to break it down into smaller downloads. That could present a problem for a lot of buyers. You can use Amazon S3 to store the files. Very cheap and a lot better than trying to host that on a shared hosting plan. There's also MediaFire. Don't know what their limit is for size or bandwidth.

How long are the videos though? I have a course with exactly 22 videos also, average about 4-5 minutes each and the total of them is just over the 200MB mark. They are all good quality screencast videos too. So you must have some pretty long videos for them to be that size?

What format are your videos in? If they are not already then I would highly suggest using mp4 format as it will give you the best size/quality ratio.

As I mentioned above along with the others, consider reducing anything you can.

If all the info is needed, consider changing the format or quality of the vids for optimized quality/size. Your buyers will thank you for it.

For example, if you recorded them at some huge screen resolution, you can resize them and typically save a ton of space on the file size.

        All success,

        Gary

In fact I wouldnt even consider hosting the file yourself. A WSO is fast paced at first if done right and this would just bog down the server and your isp may stop the traffic to save the other websites.

Get a premium account on a filesharing service to protect your product and they can download from there with a password. You will need to split that file. Most only let you download about 2 to 4 hundred megs as a free member. Just check there TOS, some as long as you are the paid member lets your people download the whole thing.
