honestly, i think $499 is too little. Given you have free fan page. free mobile site.

A customise fan page by itself can fetch a few hundreds depending on the complexity of it.

    Maybe $499 is okie for:
    • 5 - 7 Dynamic Pages
    • Content Management System
    • Contact Form
    • Google Map
    • Social Media Features
    • Support and Maintenance
    • FREE Website Hosting
    • FREE Domain
    • FREE On Page Search Engine Optimization (even this I think can be package as a monthly maintenance instead)

$499 with a mobile site in there is a serious low blow even if its a responsive design.

You can't package dynamic pages, if you use wordpress for example the user will sooner or later discover how to add 70 pages without the need of you.

    Few pointers here :

    1. State how long your Free Support is, I offer free support over 12 months 1 hour a month by phone or 2 hours via email. Anything more and it costs.

    2. How long is free hosting?

    3. What free domain name? Only .net? .com or choice of any?

    4. SSL Why? Don't provide it unless they need it even then profit off it, dont give something you can make at least $30 off for free.

    5. Ditch FREE SEO as before you know it if you got a savy customer (and you will at some point) they will have you re writing all of the content for FREE as per your package.

If your unsure how to market your packages you need to do this

    1. Tally up ALL of your expenses in the month (bills, cost of living, food and so on)
    2. All extras (so if you go to the gym, go out clubbing etc)

You have two figures so for me

    1. - $1200
    2. - $300

I need $1500 per month just to keep up with my life style or $1200 just to live each month.

Now how many clients do you think you can get each month? If your just starting out or been in business less than 12 months. What ever the number you pick half it, and thats being nice! So 2 customers.

2 Customers pick your cheap package $499 total month that gives me = $998 I'm short to cover my basic living costs! And I've not even made a profit yet!!! Or paid myself...

So look at it again I need $1500 per month. I'm going to sell 2 sites a month that means I need to sell these two for $750 at least, now add my profit margin, cost of business expense, insurance etc your looking at minimum entry package of $1000.

I been doing this for 11 years (web design that is) I don't touch a job less than $2500 any more.

Hope that's giving you some kind of idea anyway, Good Luck

Wow, what a great explanation of a basis for how to price things.

Having run my own offline advertising business for the past 11 years, the only issue I would bring up is to be sure that your pricing is in line with what the market is currently paying. Sometimes you have to cut your prices to be competitive. In this case, I think everything you mentioned is right on, but I've run into a lot of people that say "Oh, I need to make $1000 so I'm going to price this service at $500." Then they wonder why they don't get any business - until they find out that 3 other places are offering the same service for $200. Of course, if you can show how your service is so much better than the $200 service (experience, past success, the fact that your service brings in more and better business than the $200 service, etc.) then a higher charge makes a ton of sense and you may be able to sell it at that higher price.

So I guess I would use both what you need to make and what the general market competitive pricing is to finalize a price for any package.

      Just my 2¢

The way I see it, yes pricing competitively is a key player in any business model and pricing structure however my pricing model might not suit your target market as it would with mine.

You would need to figure out who your pitching to, how much they on average spend and create a package from them. One thing I've learn't and I do this to people ALL the time.

Is once you start to offer "discounts" or limited time 50% off a product that is essentially your time you have already devalued your services, your skill and your product / business. And if that was presented to me, wellif your prepared to take $500 off to land me as a client well you can take afford another $100 for starters. And that makes the different between a 1 year business and a 11 year one.

At least thats how I see it.

999$ sounds a better figure for your offerings.
