Most purchasers would expect a download unless you offer a membership. The download is generally a zip file.

Not sure about video as I've not done this myself. When I sell my information products customers can download them in zip file format which is universally accessible to all people including Mac buyers.

Try to set up an automated delivery system as your client gets their product immediately making them happy and you don't have to always be tied to your computer manually posting your product out. Always strive to automate your business as much as you can.

We created our automated system so that it could deliver the content in multiple formats.

For say a "video and ebook" package I like to deliver the ebook as a download and the videos in a secure members area. That way I can update the content at any time and the end user always has the most up to date content.

Additionally our system can add a feed to the membership where they can get the videos via one click itunes, zun, or other rss and podcatcher devices.

With one click itunes membership setup you can load your videos and the pdf ebook into the feed and its all downloaded direct to their computer using itunes as a download manager and media player. Also that makes it so you can send additional future content down the same feed to the individual subscriber.

They can then watch the content on their desktop or take it with them in a mobile device.

Additionally we made our system so that it integrates with two popular print on demand services so that publishers can also have physical copies of their books, cds, dvds shipped automatically should they choose.

The great thing about doing it as a membership is also that there is no customer service for crashed computer "lost my download" type stuff since they can just go and login at any time to retrieve the content or resubscribe to their feed.

For me there is nothing more annoying to me than having to click and download a bunch of links. I also believe that when you deliver content in multiple formats making it easier to consume you reduce buyer remorse and boost response rates if you have back end income streams worked into the content.

One thing I've seen a few people do is sell the videos as in a password protected folder on their site. When the customer completes the purchase they have an option to upgrade to a higher package that will allow them to download the videos.

I personally feel like if I pay for the product, the videos should be in a format that I can download them. I don't know what kind of success these people have been having, but I've seen it.

I think it all depends on your price point and the expectations of your market.

The Internet marketing crowd would more than likely not have a problem with watching it online, but (as an extreme) a retirees traveling in RVs product, ya might want a physical DVD.

Sometimes the best option is both, downloadable and physical.

Again thin about your market, your price point and if you are not sure, ask them.
