To those who have made or are making money with ineternet marketing, would you say recession has affected your business? If so has it been for the better or worse?

Would you say online business thrives or suffers in this economic climate? Would you say it's worthy persuing this nature of business?

It doesn't seem to be effecting my online much - but it's still kicking the snot out of me in other ways. Gearing up to fix that. The economy is just about to deal with one seriously pissed off wench.

I think it depends on the nature of your business. Some people seem to have lost out because of the reluctance of people to buy things they don't absolutely need, whereas others have greatly benefited because of people's growing need for the products they are selling. It can work either way, but I think on the whole, more people have lost out due to the recession.

I too seem to have done better in times of recession maybe because people actually realised that they jobs that they think are safe are not actually safe and they need to be looking for better opportunities

Yup, it's been affecting me. Big time.

Half of my business is real estate. I got crushed when it went under in 2006. "Usually" the real estate market recovers after a couple bad years. It was getting worse until 2009. Then, it was started to show signs it "might" recover. The foreclosure crisis and mortgage bailout killed it before it could. The last few months have been the worst, since 2006.

Fair comments, yeah, I would have thought online marketing should boom because many people are looking at an alternative as P.Sharma says, but as Yasir said, it may well depend on the nature of the business, and perhaps their internet marketing know how.

As in the case of richjr72, I think with real estate or indeed any other business, it's crucial to know what exactly makes your customesr tick, I find other realtors are happy because they took their time to really look into what type their customers are and what it is they are looking for. I think with that kind of business it takes more of offline approach rather than online, not to say internet marketing doesn't work for it, but really need to know how.

  • It all lies in what one is offering. There are some whose profit margin has gone up during the recession while others have really had it rough. It seems that the outcome practically depend on the nature of the business. So the effect of recession will be felt individually.

nope our businesses has flourished, but I must say as a marketer I am the manager of my business and I have to say to you, we are each responsible for making money no matter what the environment or economic conditions.

If you have been in here for any length of time, you will know that your niche is everything, if you do not do the research and do not put yourself in the right niche you are doomed from day ZERO.

That is why with the economy I made sure I was in the right niches since 2007 and since 2008, and onwards....our businesses are actually doing better, because time tested we are in niches that thrive in such conditions. So I urge you to do the same, it is your duty as a marketer and also as a provider to your family.

It does not even take a few minutes to work out these niches either, since the end of dec there have been numerous threads with warriors giving their secrets away.
