Product Review Site : duplicate content?

The site is a product review site. No sales or affiliate links! Just an honest to God place to review products because one doesn't exist in my niche. My only concern is that all of the product descriptions are straight from the manufacturers websites. I've got around 800 products w/ short descriptions. I've also got a blog, forum and news section w/ unique self created and user created content. The site is coded well from an SEO standpoint and it's clearly a "review site". Google seems to see it that way for now.

I'm not really experiencing any negative effects. In fact the site has risen in serps over the last few weeks, and it's the first result on the 2nd page now. I add content pretty much daily. My question is, will I run into problems with G seeing a lot of my content as dup content? I have to supply product descriptions on the site, and I'm not going to go re-writing product desc's. I'm not terribly concerned w/ SEO on this site. I'm trying to create a genuine place for open product discussion in my niche. I'd just like to know if G will eventually drop me in the Serps because of all the dup content. If it's 100% necessary, I'll post the site url.

Of course, it is possible that you may have permission to do so, but personally, I'd be more worried about running into problems with the people who's content you are scraping.

I would also be worried rather about the creators of the copied content than Google. Although some manufacturers create short descriptions of their products for affiliates to copy unchanged, I would check first you are permitted to do so.

As for Google, I think that as long as you add unique content along with the copied content, you should be fine.

I also plan to launch a review site. In time there will be some unique content from reviews, blog and forum. But there will be only the descriptions from companies at the beginning. As far as I know Google doesn't like the sites without unique content. So, maybe it is better to temporary close it from the search engines?
