What Has Happened? I just opted out!

So I am not going to make this long but I am going to rant. Today when I woke up I went to my inbox and found that I have 23 emails just from people on the Warrior Forum. I have noticed over the last few days that the people that I have purchased from and SWORE that they were not going to be bombarding me with useless crap and only send me updates of products and software that I have purchased here are now turning into the exact reason I hate to opt in to someones list when I buy something.

Now I understand that I probably should not be buying so many wso's but the fact is that all these people made a commitment to me and all the other people that buy there products that they would not do this.

I guess I just have to rethink before I buy something and REALLY check to see if I will be getting updates on the product I am buying or if I will be pedaled some useless wso or presell video to a new wso at least two to three times a day.

I love it here and am not going anywhere. Just wanted to rant and let off some steam. I understand the Warrior Forum and their affiliate program has made a lot of people a lot of money, but those people won't be getting money from me.

Opting out of all emails today!

Kevin

Nothing stops you from buying what you want and then opting out. I often do that because of the constant bombardment of emails.

I've had the same problem with some marketers when there selling there clickbank products. You buy the product and then get hit with a ton of emails.

I had one marketer emailing me everyday promoting some clickbank products.
It really got out of hand

I agree Jason and there is a lot you can learn from other marketers emails but when you get bombarded every day by the people who PROMISED they would never do that it is annoying.

The funny part Jason is you are one of the only ones that I did not unsubscribe from. So I just thought you would like to know that.

      Sincerely,

      Kevin

I didn't catch where you said they were being deceptive. My bad!

I assumed it was just another whiny post and I guess I didnt see that.

...that's just something I like to say to people who I want to help realize there's alot to be learned in being part of marketing processes.

Yes, it is very true that there is a lot to be learned by looking at other marketers emails. I have quite a few that I follow just to learn from how they market.

HOWEVER, I have noticed that a lot of the emails lists that I get on from buying WSO's do not really have anything to offer in the way of learning.

          Why?

Because all you get is emails for other peoples WSO's and most of the time those emails are the same exact email as they are using swipe files. So you might get 5 or 6 emails in the same day - all from different people but that say exactly the same thing word for word. There's no relationship building, no sneaky ninja tricks that you can learn from and use in your own marketing etc...

Is there something to be learned from that?

Now, I realize that not everyone who sells WSO's just blasts their list with other WSO offers and some of you do add value etc... but I would like you all to consider that when people come in here and start a thread talking about how sick they are of getting these emails that they might be doing so because that is all they are getting - maybe they haven't opted in to the lists that they can learn from yet.

I'd say there is one lesson to learn from that.

Your affiliates are lazy so you better have some swipe e-mails for em

But I definitely see your point.

What you're saying is the reason why I haven't promoted a WSO to my list since probably December 12th or so...

            Not because it's not profitable.

            Because it IS.

But because I know I can do better than that.

                lol... no worries...

And I'm not perfect either with my list.

But I'm always striving for perfection, so I guess that counts for something!

I had the same problem, although what really p***ed me off was when I saw the 'adswaps' url link pop up when I was opening anything. They had blatantly sold on my details to another marketer to allow them start bombarding me with more mails!!!

At one point I had almost 4,000 unread mails!

So whenever I saw 'adswaps' pop up I just unsubscribed from whoever sent me the mail. Some of them had added me to other lists they had (I started to recognise the similarities in the mails etc. - so I marked them as spam.

Now I unsubscribe from around 3 people a day and will continue to do so till I reach the core group of marketers who give value and don't annoy.

I wonder - we are in the same game and so can understand their actions to a degree - but how is that a good example to give for newbies? 'Just bombard people with mails - it's a numbers game'. It doesn't wash with most people I know....

Adswaps doesn't mean usually mean that someone has sold your details
        to anyone.

It generally means that they have agreed to do a mailing for someone in the
group in exchange for that person doing the same for them.

Most marketers won't turn their databases over to others.

          I hear you Willie - maybe I should elucidate further;

at the time I had received one of those videos from a marketer who showed the cars he bought, the house he owned, the castle he got married in etc...
He promised to show how to make millions etc. etc.
The crux of the whole thing was to find other marketers with large lists and agree on a fee to swap lists, so that they could market to each others' list and grow their customer base....

Now I am a newbie and maybe I sometimes get wound up about something I shouldn't before I understand it properly; but in the weeks following that video there was a spate of adswap email links arriving in my inbox and I eventually began to mentally link adswaps with the above nefarious activities.

btw - I recognise your name... I am on your list and am staying on it - good stuff!! Thank you...

PS - If these people look at marketing as a numbers game and think they can just throw stuff at a number of people and some of it will stick, maybe they should think of where else the s**t could land when they throw it at a fan?

This does get frustrating. They should realize that these constant annoying emails just make customers avoid their products in the future. I hope some of those people see this thread and learn from it.

I agree!! They need to learn how to slow down... it's turning their potential clients down.

Getting a lot of emails is annoying for everyone, however it is my understanding that we are all marketers here and we, if no one else should be able to tolerate the email inflow because its a part of marketing.

That being said it only takes a few seconds to scroll to the bottom of an email and unsubscribe.

You stay on the list of the people who offer value and leave the lists of the ones that don't.

We should all be doing this anyway no matter how many emails we get.

Its impressive to see how many marketers just attempt to gain sales and sales off their list at every single email.

I can count on my hands how many marketers actually do provide value to their list and treat their list like people....

Unfortunately they are in for a quick buck....or slash and burn as I would call it....

Burn out the customer....bring new ones in..

It's a bit of a short term view on their business!

    Regards

This is very same reason i don't like subscribing to some of the "top marketers" email list. Some of these people email me everyday... twice a day. I opt out almost instantly or put them on my block list cause i know the bombardment of emails wont stop.

I buy what I want. That doesn't mean that I'm obliged to confirm the email subscription or to remain on the list. I assume you know how to unsubscribe from a list.

I set up a separate email account which I use when I subscribe to stuff or buy stuff- my main email inbox doesn't get too clogged up and I can go and sort/ unsubscribe at my leisure.

With all of the WSO's promoting list building and adswaps you can bet you will be getting hit with many more emails than ever before. Everyone knows they should build a list and many are trying. Got to give them credit for that. I just opt out. However, I do like to see how people use their email opps and try to learn from those that do it best. I discard at least 200 emails each day and have another 150 hit my spam folder. It takes 5 minutes a day to scan and trash. No big deal to me.
