I'm pretty new to the world of IM. I have some experience with Adsense and article marketing through sites like IB, but I'm planning on kicking it up a notch. I'm trying to match something with my fishing hobby, but I'm just lost for ideas. So my questions is this: without much start up money, and without the intent of developing a new product, what are some good IM routes that could eventually lead to a decent income, say between $1000-1500, revolving around a hobby?

I apologize if this a super-broad question, and I don't expect to make that much money for a long time. But I would eventually like to get to that point. Any advice is appreciated.

    Hey Kayak,

I know its a logical statement......but it depends!

The fishing niche is pretty big to be honest and there are a number of physical and digital products that you can potentially offer as an affiliate.

I think though you would need to niche it down a bit...

I.e Rather than fishing.....Bass Fishing or even Salt water bass fishing.....

Remember if there is a magazine on the niche.....there are people interested in it.

I don't think you would be short of products to offer as an affiliate (ALthough its a bugger to find people to dropship fishing gear! so it sorta eliminates ecommerce as an option)

If i were you start with you passion.....

At least you would be interested and taking action!

Hope this helps....any questions just ask!

    Regards

    Chris

Thanks for the response. I started to notice that (narrowing my niche) when I started writing articles. I don't have much experience with affiliate marketing; it's something I certainly need to get more knowledgeable about.

        Great stuff!

The most important thing to do is to take action first and learn as you go along.....if you attempt to find out everything you need to know about getting started...it won't happen.

You'll end up chasing your tail!

If you need a hand don't be afraid to ask.

        Regards

Yeah a blog could earn you that, can you break down that niche even farther. Like where do you live, what fish is mainly active. Ect... Ect... this way you can find your keywords with a better chance of success for a matching domain and mod to min work on getting it ranked.

I have seen it time and time again. Someone gets on the computer, does not care if they make money, they just want to contribute and have a way for others to contribute to there hobby, they stick a website up and put a blog on it, a year later they have no idea what happened but there traffic is going crazy and they are scrambling to find out how to monetize it.

You can start a fan page for free. Then you can create a free Amazon store and link it up with your fan page. It isn't hard to do at all. I know.....because i did it. :p
      Signature

Please do not use affiliate links in signatures

Amazon affiliate work! There's a LOT of fishing products on Amazon, so write a blog about fishing, and do reports on specific fishing products, giving people all the info, summarising the user reviews both on and off Amazon, looking into reasons for people buying one product or an alternative, comparisons etc.

All you need to pay for is the domain and hosting, and just start blogging about your hobby! You can put contextual links in general blog posts, but the reviews of specific products will convert much better, so have a think about your site structure and navigation so that people can find what they want, maybe even divide it into 2 blogs, a general blog on the subject, and a blog of the review reports (it's easy enough to install 2 versions of WordPress on the same site, just put each installation in a folder).

In my experience, the profits from Amazon affiliate work can be very good if you do it right (plenty of free advise here, on that!).

Just be careful with the information overwhelm. If you really want to make $1,000 constantly, please never ever get into the shiny object thing. Never ever buy thousands of different products and go from one thing to another. I'm not saying that you should follow a method that you don't like when someone told you it works. Just find something what would sounds good for you and FOCUS on that. If it doesn't make you any money for 1 - 3 months, go and try a different method. The point is, there is many methods like Facebook, Amazon reviews, CPA, Adsense, but you can't make them all work.

To conclude, this is the main road. Pick a method and stick to it! Whatever people will tell you in the emails, don't listen to them when you've picked the method.

    I appreciate the feedback.

I just used the free Google keyword tool, and fishing is a big niche. Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen magazines about it. There's a saying in IM that goes, "If there's a magazine, there's a niche." Companies conduct a lot of research before coming out with publications to ensure they are successful and don't lose money.

You need to dig down into the niche some more, though, because fishing is too broad. In the few seconds I did some rough keyword research, I found people where looking for things like fishing tips, books, equipment, lures, rods, rigs, reels, guides, info on different types of fishing like fly fishing, bass fishing, and a bunch of other stuff that's over my head.

Starting a niche blog focused around a particular type of fishing, writing reviews for particular products as well as including articles on stuff related to your particular niche is a great way to generate passive income.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Thanks for the feedback. I have narrowed down my niche quite a bit to a specific type of fishing. We'll see how it goes.

Hello, my suggestion is you should do such a research about fishing niche and find the micro niche. There are lots of method you can read here in Warrior to do a research.

According to my opinion, its very possible for you to make $1000 - $1500 with your niche that match you hobby because you have a good willing. But don't forget to make a goal when you expect to get $1000 - $1500.

Ouh, one question for me? Do you wish to get $1000 in a week or a month or a year? Just do a simple match, if you want to make $1000 in a week, so you have to do something that make you $300+ a day.

Or.. if you wish to get $1000 in a month, then you have to do something that make you $30+ a day. And be focus!

Hope this can be understood. Good Luck..

My advice is to start a blog on your hobby.

I assume you have knowledge about your hobby, and you can write up about the topic..from there, slowly build traffic to your blog.

You can make money through advertisement and also sell your own products.

Although this is the easiest i can think of, it is not the fastest as you need time to build up your visitors base...keep providing fresh content to make your visitor coming back.

    Hope this helps
