I am considering getting a reseller hosting account and thought I would ask this question on this forum. I'm having trouble deciding what company to go with due to my lack of knowledge more than anything.
What hosting companies offer turnkey reseller hosting including a storefront, billing and 24/7 tech and customer service support for the end user? I only want to do the marketing. I want to leave all customer support to the parent host but I want it all "white label."

My other question is, if I decided the business wasn't for me but already had some clients how would I get out without screwing up the clients hosted sites. I want to make sure they are covered.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations. FYI I have been considering Wild West/GoDaddy but I have never personally used them as a website host. I have always used Hostgator and have been happy but I don't think they offer the 27/7 support for end user but I could be wrong.

I can't help with your main question, but I do know that when you are ready to leave the business you can probably sell the site/business on Flippa (or somewhere else) if it is making money for you.

For a branded reseller hosting account, YOU are the end user for the big hosting company. Your customers are YOUR end users for your branded reseller account.

No hosting provider I know of will sell one reseller account and then take on responsibility for support for dozens or hundreds of users of that account. It's not financially feasible for them.

There are actually quite a few big name companies that provide user-end support for your customers.

As for the OP. Check out webhostingtalk.com

That forum has an entire section dedicated to helping you get your hosting business up and running.

I would go with hostgator, but yes you will have to use either a company to do your support or a virtual worker. They have to be very knowledgeable in the type of server you will have.

I warn you now, you will read some hosting sites that say they will give your customer support. I have used a few of these. The support was either non existent or incompetent people on the support team.

The reason Hostgator is where it is, is because of there support department.

I would recommend HostGator for this but it would require quite a bit of setup on your part to get everything working. They provide most all of the software you'll need for free, plus extras like help tutorials and videos but all of this needs to be labelled and setup. I'm not clear if they will provide the support to your customers as well or not, you would need to contact them about that (but I believe they do).

I saw that you mentioned wild west/godaddy as well. Personally I would steer clear of that/them. I have my domains through them and to get any support is like pulling teeth, I also have setup a couple of sites for clients on their hosting and that didn't seem much better. If you needed help they would send you to the forum first then you could either call or send an email, the call wait time was around 45 minutes and the email response took somewhere around 3 hours. That's pretty bad service in my book, and that was a first hand customer I don't know what they do about the reseller support but I imagine it's as bad or possibly even worse.

Alright I'm done now, just my two cents worth. Hope it helps you out.

I've seen hosting that promised to support your end users - have never found one that actually did it competently. If you are running a branded reseller account you need to know the basics of managing accounts. Not hard to learn or to do.

If I buy hosting and the seller says "just go to HG for support" - I'd be asking myself why I didn't buy from HG in the first place. The reason sellers offer support on branded reseller programs is to position themselves as a "host provider".

If you want the ability to host sites for a membership program, or as an add on for site flipping, etc...that's one thing. If you want to be viewed as "hosting" you need to know the basics about hosting management.

Do your self a favor and stay away from godaddy. They are decent only for domains and keeping your domains and sites with a single company is never recommended anyways.

I use Hostgator and so far haven't had slightest issue with them. Do your own research and see what best suits your need.

There are very few cheap reseller hosting companies offering what you're looking for (ie they do 110% of the work and you just market it).

If you don't want to deal with ANYTHING to do with web hosting other than a bit of advertising/marketing, why not find some hosts who offer an affiliate program?
