      Must have been.

Look at DAP (Digital Access Pass). I think it is offered somewhere here on the forum.

Jason Fladlien has a membership plugin out that comes with a nice theme and just about everything he puts out is awesome so I would take a look at that!

I personally use Wish List with a blog. Good for text based product or videos. Great software.

Personally, I'd recommend Easy Member Pro or Digital Access Pass. I've also used S2Member Pro which is great if you want something Wordpress based.

I've used Easy Member Pro for a lot of my sites in the past and have had very little problems - and the support/owner is great at fixing any issues you may have.

I am also looking into getting Digital Access Pass myself.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

Wishlist, amember, DAP, membergate, hundreds of options depending on requirements.

Kinda like asking, I want a car, but dont know what i'll need it for.

Are there any sites you'd like to emulate?

Having used all three of those, I think DAP (Digital Access Pass is the only one in the bunch that is built to allow you to use either Wordpress OR HTML pages. It appears to be a solid product. I've used S2 Member also, and it is a very solid product, but it is very integrated with Wordpress, like Wishlist (which I would not touch again with a ten foot pole). EasyMember is decent, and I think I heard they have done some improvements since I used them. All I remember about them is that they didn't meet my need.

Absolutely good point. Look at some other sites and see what they do, then decide what you want to do and how you want to deliver what kind of product. Once you find a site that does what you want, find out what kind of software they are using to manage their delivery, and then contact them to see if you can find out what types of problems they ran into.

What about OptimizePress? It seems to me they have membership site feature and it works under Wordpress so it could be a good idea... but I'm not sure how good it really is, just I saw it on few sites...

I'm just about to launch my membership site after many months of work.

I started with DAP but switched to Amember Pro.

DAP has the advantage of better support, and you can hire the developers to help out with implementation, etc., (with Amember you are on your own essentially, although there is support, they won't actually do any work for you for a fee).

Amember has (in my opinion) a much better interface, and an integrated user agreement, and integration with Xenforo which is the best forum application out there (in my view). Amember is meant for techies though, as integrating it with your site and with Wordpress takes skills or a contractor to do it for you.

If you have few technical skills and can't afford to hire a contractor to help you implement the membership application, go with DAP. If you are very techy or can afford to hire an external person, go with Amember simply for the sweet interface.

Both have built-in affiliate programs, and neither is expensive in my opinion for what you are getting.

There aren't many others with built in affiliate programs, you'd have to use an external affiliate manager with them, which was a show-stopper for me - affiliate marketing for membership sites is absolutely key.

I've been using WP MemberChamp along with JVZoo and it works like a charm. I just wrote up a short guide on how to do it.
