i agree with Paul you should learn how to make wordpress. first screw it because that is where you learn how to use that script

after that you can use a domain .com with a hosting account.. i prefer hostgator or fatcow because i use it both and the customer support is Great. Next is install your wordpress script, you can ask their customer support how to install wordpress in your domain name if you dont understand..

i used to doing that too.. but if you want to install yourself just search Fantastico in your hosting account Dashboard

after you install wordpress script in fatastico, Choose your themes, if blogging i think your themes should be something that personal you can search it in themeforest if you want premium themes, if not just searching in goolgle about free wordpress blog themes. there is still many cool free themes out there

and dont forget you if you are using .com you must install useful plugin for your blog like
all in one seopack
google sitemap
yet another related post plugin
seo smart links - for linking your post
etc2

than just start writing your post and page about the topic you choose.. i think thats the basic you should know about blogging..

You do need to concern yourself with "SEO'ing" your blog content. It is the main way in which people will find your blog ... unless you go the syndication route. But, for all intents and purposes, start out with SEO in your mind as you write your content, and the traffic will come.

For a long term blog, you should choose a niche (do keyword research), buy a domain, buy hosting, install Wordpress on your host (you can do that quickly with Fantastico on the cpanel of your new host).

Then you have a blog. You might then want to buy or look for a new theme for the blog and start posting content that matches the keywords you are going after (from the keyword research you did).

As you post, do on page SEO (Google that or look in the War Room for more info). Then you will need to promote the blog and get traffic. Getting backlinks will help to get your blog higher up in the serps. Social bookmarking helps with backlinks and traffic.

If any of this confuses you, use the search function and learn about each step. Good info on wordpress.org about Wordpress blogs also.

Yes, lists are very necessary, but traffic is key. Without visitors/traffic you don't have people signing up to be on your list. So concentrating on getting traffic and converting that traffic into a list is ideal.

Hi Jason,

Just looked at your blog and immediately took notice of your optin form. the right side is trimmed off. that is because the right panel of your blog is small to accommodate the form. you might have to just reduce the width of the main panel while leaving the entire width of the blog the same. That way you will increase the width of the panel on the right so the form can fit in well.

Hi Stevey and welcome to IM! Well firstly, pick a topic or niche that you have interest in so that you will look forward to updating your blog.

Then you would want to choose your domain name and preferably, have your primary keyword in the domain name. Then pick a webhost to host your domain ( a lot of people use HostGator but you may want to check the others available too)

Next, setup wordpress and begin the process on how the layout of your blog will be and begin posting.

I recommend that you search for a coaching product on how to blog for beginners. Ask for recommendations and go through this forum and see how much you can pick up and there's a lot of free valuable information that can be obtained here.

Hi there

You can either start blogging for free at blogger.com or get your own hosting account and domain for your blog and install wordpress(which is available for free) and a wordpress theme( not much necessary) but it will be good with a theme ,themes are available for free as well as paid , and start writing on your blog.Hope this helps

Yes a blog is a great way to promote your site. You can either sign up for a free blog on somewhere like Wordpress.com or Blogger.com, or you can install WordPress on your existing site (just install it in a folder if you don't want it to be the home-page) and then write your blog there.

Well, if you need someone to help you install the blog, just hop over to fiverr and they are lots of gig providers that can provide that service for $5 bucks. Most probably another $5 for some hosting package.

They know what you will need and most probably will install all necessary plug ins for you.
