Hot tip to improve usability and conversion

Usability is a HUGE factor in making a successful website. I've been learning more and more about UX (user experience) design over the past few months and it's really fascinating. What I'd like to do is get people to actually try my site by defining a scenario and seeing how they act when trying to accomplish the goal.

On Friday I gave http://www.trymyui.com a go - they offer one free usability test if you register and then it's around $40 per test after that. Within 2 hours of signing up I got an email saying my usability test was ready - it was an 8 minute screen capture with audio of somebody using my website, trying to accomplish the task I gave them.

I really recommend you give this a go, and if you can afford it, pay for some tests on your sites to see what you can do to improve usability. Good, user-friendly sites are what drives conversion, gets people talking and sharing your stuff. Give it a go!

I have no affiliation with trymyui.com

I am glad you get the big picture.

It is all about the user experience.

Those who get this concept will make money.

Google is really changing things in this area too.

Rankings are based on user experience too.

yep, definitely. not directly, but UX plays a huge role.

Google is a robot and can't navigate a page like a user, but when you realise that as a robot, Google tracks the sites bounce rate, return rate, time on site etc etc - these metrics can be used to establish ranking, and they are all directly affected by the experience the user has on your site.
