Do you think people (or you) really watch 20 videos about 15 minutes each?

If I have a need to learn what the videos offer (obviouslly I do or I wouldn't have bought them, lol) then yes.. I would sit through each video and finish off the course.

I haven't purchased any video courses, but I have found a few free ones. Super Simple Marketing by StevenR is a great video series that is free for new marketers. I think it's the only video series that I have watched completely.

Of course, I prefer reading a PDF. I can skip the parts that I already have knowledge in, and know that I can always return to do quick and easy research without waiting for a video to buffer.

I think my personal distaste for videos is that people don't write scripts. They attempt to 'Wing it' and the quality, in my eyes, plummets. I don't want to listen to some stranger babbling on with uh's and um's for the next 10-40 minutes. I want the information presented in a clean manor. Also, some people don't speak proper english, or have accents that are difficult to understand. Instead of outsourcing the video to someone more easily understandable (and thus making the product worth more), they do the work themselves and forget to provide the written work.

Video series, done correctly, can be a great way to teach. Again I suggest StevenR's Super Simple Marketing. He is clear and precise in his videos, and he goes over all the details that you will need in order to get your website up and running.

    No, not at all.

(Like many people, actually) I simply won't buy video products. Partly for exactly the reason to which you refer: I know I won't ever play through them properly. They're too inconvenient and demand too much attention.

The only times I've ever asked for a refund for a WSO have been the two occasions when what I bought turned out to be video - both times without that even being mentioned in the sales-posts or the reviews (one of them even referred to a "PDF"! ). Almost unbelievable, but actually true.

I'm not a big fan of huge video courses. However, if I really believed a particular course was going to be well worth it, I would make time to go through all the course. I think a lot of people do like video because they can be shown what to do as apposed to being told what to do.

I think it's best when both videos and pdf's are available to cater for people with different experience levels. Newbies can watch all of the videos and more experienced marketers can skim through the pdf's for the odd golden nugget that they didn't already know.

I like PDFs better since I can skip the parts where I know that I know my stuff well. With videos you have to go through the entire thing even if you find is uselessly boring.

However, if I absolutely have to watch it what I do is pretty sweet. I downloaded VLC Player and when playing the video - I play at 150-170% speed. That way the sound is very fast and to get everything on the video course I have to be attentive.

I don't get time to have a laid back attitude that way and finish the course faster than I would otherwise.

If I spent hundreds of dollars for it, hell yes. That usually goes like this:

    - Get box in mail
    - Unwrap and pull out DVDs
    - Drop every damn thing and watch them

If I bought it out of the WSO forum for $7, hell no. That goes more like this:

    - Download and unzip
    - Say "holy crap that's a lot of video"
    - Abandon until later when I have time

An often-overlooked reason why higher price points are smart.

I must be the exception then.

I've happily sat through hours of video on subjects I'm interested in.

That's everything from setting up a consulting business to optimising Google Places listings.

In fact, the thing that really got me into IM in the first place was a set of videos (they were on video cassette since online streaming video wasn't around back then) by Corey Rudl. They were videos of him speaking at an IM seminar in London and they got me hooked on IM.

So, maybe that's why I still will spend the time - if I never did, I wouldn't be in IM now.

Obviously I won't spend time just for the sake of it (I won't even sit through a sales video if it's more than 5 minutes long, or if it has no controls or time indicator), so I don't buy video products for things I only have a passing interest in, but I definitely will for anything I'm passionate about.

Some things just cant be demonstrated on paper.

I don't think anyone would have patience to watch it through! Maybe video of few minutes is much better for guide.

Watching these useful videos is a must. Once you are committed to that, don't try to miss every single minute of it because everything is important. Have patience because at the end, you may realize that it's all worth it.

Some material needs to be in video format, e.g. software
      instructional videos.

Other content is best created as a PDF for easier consumption.

Information marketers need to learn to use the most suitable
format for the content they create.

That said, I won't let the format of the product determine
whether I'll get the benefits of the content or not.

Like Caliban says, it also depends upon who has created the
      content.

Over the Christmas period, I went through a 12-module video
course by Jay Abraham with each video being waaaaay over
15-minutes long. I'd struggle through any length video to pick
      up the gems from Jay.

By the way, if you do produce video content, please output it
in mp4 or m4v format. That way, I can watch it in QuickTime
and adjust the playback speed to watch it at 1.5-2x normal
      speed if I need to.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

Depends on how interested you are in the subject.

I bought two products this week that consisted of mostly videos, and I watched all of the videos, beginning to end.

If I have spent money on a course and it involves videos, then I am going to watch them so that I can learn. I went through 20 odd videos two days ago and it was worth every minute because now I can do the work demonstrated on those videos blindfolded.
