Advice for selling domain name please

I have a domain name that I wish to sell www.Travelonholiday.com and would like advice on which domain selling website is best to advertise the domain.
Any advice please and also any experiences of hiring a broker etc. Has anyone any advice regards is it best to promote on Sedo.com or any thoughts on how to go about doing this and any possible problems when selling domain names Thankyou

    Hi,

    I've used Flippa and Sedo in the past....by far I've had the most luck with Flippa.

    But one thing is for sure...be sure to use an escrow service, and if possible don't accept paypal as payment because the buyer can simply contact paypal afterwards and claim they never got your site and paypal will refund their money and there's nothing you can do. Paypal won't even ask your side of the story.

    As far as domains go, this is not a very mature proposition. If you are convinced there is value in this domain (I did not go to do any research, assuming here you know what you are talking about), you might be better developing it into a working site that some larger agency might want to snap. My advice is to start making it a very interesting proposition and try to sell it to someone in the industry. Next sell if on WF or a marketplace like flippa. Selling as a domain in the current climate is not going to bring in much.

    Could you please explain what you mean by using an escrow service. Could I also ask Marketing Fool if the success they had when using Flippa, did they use the free broker service or did they simply ask for 'Make an Offer' Thankyou

      When you sell on flippa you can choose to use escrow.com they are a third party that makes sure the transaction occurs above board. You can read up about it at their site.

      I've never used a broker service....flippa is an auction...there is a time frame and people bid...the highest bidder wins. You can also put a buy it now price up. I've done both successfully in the past..

      Flippa and Sedo are both top sites to sell domains on, as there are people actively looking to buy domains there. Just be sure you use Escrow if you're selling the domain for anything above $500 (and be sure your domain is worth that before listing it!).

    With regard to protecting yourself with escrow, since you are in the EU, you should be aware that you can save a whole lot of money by using one of the FSA Authorised escrow services (such as Transpact.com).
    No percentage charge, and only a fixed £2.99 charge per party for GBP transactions.
    Compares extremely favourably with escrow services run by the domain listers themselves.
    And the service type is recommended by the Metropolitan Police in London.
