Are you looking to sell products or be an affiliate?

If you are looking to sell products especially info products
or product then i would go with clickbank because i believe
it alot easier for a newbie.

Hey Kelik I would say before u determine which one to start with you should think about what business model u are going to advertise with such as your own website, etc... how will u drive traffic to this affiliate program? If you are going to make your own website or drive traffic wit articles...

There is a lot of information on how to become a great affiliate for newbies u should check some of those out before u decide which one u will be going to go after first.

    Thanks

It may be a good idea to start out with clickbank as a newbie... It is user friendly, but then again, it is not EASY making sales but that is another topic all together...

I wish you the best of success!

Although Amazon has low commission rates, and short lifespan of cookies, everyone trusts Amazon. They don't have to buy that product within a day , it could be any product.

There is also no need to cloak Amazon affiliate links, unlike the suspicious looking ClickBank links.

Not that cloaking links is hard, but you couldn't cloak a link directly on a forum. You could post Amazon links on any place where the rules permitted or where you could get away with it.

I would go with Clickbank... it seems much easier especially because a lot of products already offer various affiliate promo tools so you can learn from them too and use them without the need to create your owns, especially if you are newbie and don't know how to do that...

Amazon is the best place for a newbie to start.

With Clickbank you are limited to digital products.
    and I do meann limited.

Amazon sells EVERYTHING: books, dvd's, snowblowers, mixers, computers, software and on and on...

You can easily tap into so many different markets you can get lost!

Also, if you are starting out you can tell friends relatives, people you know, everyone, that you can get them anything they want from the Amazon catalogue and it won't cost them a penny more..

I still make money every month by telling people to buy through my link. And they do!-

Plus Amazon allows you to easily make links...

start with Amazon...them move up to clickbank..

    Here's to your continued success!

I agreed that it will depends what you really want to sell. Choose Amazon for real products and choose clickbank for digital things.

I think you need try both at the first place then move on to the best market that suit you.

    Hi

For a newbie, I agree with Amazon.

One of the best reasons to start with Amazon and/or AdSense is that you can start to make money right away before you really know what you are doing. Almost ANY Amazon site will pop a buck or two into your account every once in a while.

It may not be much, but nothing inspires you more when you are new than seeing real money appear in your account no matter how small the amount.

When I first started I built two sites while following two different Amazon WSOs. Like most newbies, I followed the course and built one site in a competitive niche with poor keywords and followed with very little Off Page SEO.

Naturally they never showed up in Google and they made zero sales. So I left them and started looking at publishing Kindle books- I never actually published one before I was thinking I could try CPA with traffic from facebook ads, etc.

Then one day I logged into Amazon and I had $6. For things I don't even have on my sites. that was enough to think, "Wow- if those crappy 'practice' sites with no support generated even only $6, imagine what I could do with better research and work on traffic?"

You can pick up ONE WSO or ebook/course on Amazon and learn enough to find some products and build one or two niche sites. You will learn a lot and improve greatly when you suddenly see $1.36 in you Amazon account and think "Wow! I can do better!"

Too many new people think everything has to be perfect for their Amazon sites and put in too much effort before they see any reward. They look for the perfect keywords, agonize over whether the keywords they selected are "buyer" keywords, fret over a premium theme or free theme, then which theme.

Just do it. Go to Amazon. Find some products. Install WP and a nice free theme. Create reviews. Upload the reviews. There you did it. You have an Amazon review site online. Total cost $10 for the domain.

Even a newbie can do this in a weekend. Don't worry too much about an EMD, buyer keywords, WP Theme, and all the other stuff you are confused about. You will learn all about that as you go.

Better to make small mistakes like keywords and domain names early when you are learning then later when your time is worth $xxx/hr.

    Mahlon

PS The problem with Clickbank for newbies is that sales are much harder and you need multiple sales types paypal/credit card etc to unlock your funds.

Nothing discourages a newbie faster than:

    * Seeing a lot of traffic with no sales and realizing clickbank products can be a tough conversion
    * Finally seeing a few sales but no access to the money because they are only a few PayPal buys
    * Noticing all your competitors have awesome bonus packages and JV partners
    * Realizing sales would be so much better if you had a list
    * Experiencing a "refund" just when you thought you had figured things out

I think the hazards of Clickbank make it more likely to frustrate newbies than reward them.

I'd say Clickbank because of the higher commission rate. There is competition, but there are always different angles too.
Although, Amazon will probably have better conversions.

I would recommend Amazon based on personal experience. I made my first commissions with Amazon although it took a while and I'm guessing it's because when someone clicks on a link that leads to Amazon, they'll be a little more comfortable because Amazon is familiar. Some people are turned off by the long sales letters that are associated with Clickbank's products.

Amazon. Easily. Most of the stuff over at CB is just flat-out junk. EVERYONE trusts Amazon. While commissions may not be high, you'll see a pretty good conversion rate if you're doing things right.

You can't even compare the two. Clickbank is all digital and Amazon sells all kinds of stuff both digital and physical. It depends on what you want to sell. The approach to each is similar but there are many subtle and not so subtle differences. Being successful at one doesn't guarantee you'd make it with the other.
