Site Sold At Flippa- How Do I transfer The Site To The Owner?

I need help at this stage. The new owner has given me his namecheap user name and nameserver. What do I do next?

I hope after the transfer, I won't be billed for next month hosting?

Thanks

when you successfully transfer your website you need to cancel your hosting straight away! be careful not to cancel before you take the confirmation from the buyer that the website has been transferred!

What happens to my hosting? Will still be charged after the previous hosting?

It is my first time with something like this. He has only given me his nameserver at hostgator and his namecheap user name.

Well, either you are going to install it on his server, you are just going to transfer a domain and host with the site on it or you are going to give him the files to install it yourself.

You didn't answer my question. Two of the options are detailed here

I think the lesson to be taken away from this thread is to research everything before you embark upon a project such as offering a website for sale.

WORD I never embarked on selling sites on Flippa though, but these are words of wisdom though

If you cancel your hosting before the site transfers to the new buyer and propagates to his hosting account - the site will go down and you'll have an angry buyer.

Read the info Suzanne provided and follow her advice. Worry about completing the sale and transfer before worrying about a one month hosting fee.

You questions aren't unusual - I'm surprised how often people jump in to sell a site or a domain name or whatever with no idea of what to do if someone buys.

I too have posted my first website on flippa, lets see what happens, but I have experience on selling websites (low value ones), if you and your buyer on the same domain registerar than you just simply need to do a domain push, like namecheap-namecheap or godaddy-godaddy... else you will have to unlock your website and provide him with the key, once both of you enter into the domain transfer system, it will take 3-5 days, when he will lock it in his account and can save his personal domain servers. By that time you can share the source code and setup the website in preview mode. once the DNS changes take place, you will be done.

I would love to hear your experience though!

    Hope that helps!
