Grandmother and Newbie here

Hello,
I am a real newbie trying to work through Affiliate Marketing. I sure could use some helpful advice. It seems to me there are "missing links" in this business, and I'm trying to find out what they are, or who has them.

I don't even know what WSO stands for?
I sincerely appreciate your advice and thank you for it.

I think maybe you should invest in the war room and take a look in there. There are some excellent products being given away for free in there and some great threads.

    just a thought

Where are you standing Oma Heidi? There are several forms and routs to take and they are all affiliate marketing. There is an affiliate marketing training on my website marketing-online-101.com, I hope it helps.

I'll try to give you a big picture and you tell me what's missing for you OK?

As an affiliate your job is to find a crowd of people who are interested in the product you are promoting and somehow convince them to buy it through your affiliate link.

The crowd could be people searching for a certain keyword or phrase on search engines. You can reach those by building a page telling this crowd why the product you're promoting is good for them and provide your affiliate link, and either do search engine optimization (SEO) or buy advertising on those search engines (PPC or pay per click). They are two different routs that some how meet at certain points.

Another crowd is on social media like facebook and twitter. I don't know about twitter (other than spamming) but on facebook you can find people interested in what you're promoting by advertising. On facebook you can buy ads and directly link to the product you are promoting with your affiliate link, except that if it was from clickbank and probably Amazon (I had a problem with Amazon because of it and I am not sure what was it all about). A better way is to build a fan page on facebook and advertise the fanpage. On the fanpage you can place your affiliate link but in a way that looks social so that you don't push your fans to dislike the page and disappear.

The above were two targeted crowds. There are other crowds that you can reach with less targeting via banner placement (AKA media buy). In this method you buy advertising space on certain websites that you know to have audience that might be interested in what you have to offer, create banners (tons of them) and try them all until you get the banner that grabs their attention then focus on it and you can directly send them after they click the banner straight to your affiliate link.

Another less targeted audience is the one you can reach via pop up, interstitial ads, adware ... etc. Mainly CPL (commission or cost per lead) offers and your own lead capture pages can be somewhat effective. If you choose to build your own lead capture page, which is better by all means, you'll need to learn about email marketing.

All types of crowds above, and those I forgot to mention, can be approached to opt in your own list (you'll need an autoresponder for capturing the leads and managing your email marketing campaigns). This list is, in my opinion, going to be your own ATM machine. Whenever you need money find a product with an affiliate program and send your list an email to tell them about it.

Everything I mentioned here is extremely simplified, so just pick one and let's expand on it.

One of the keys to success in this business is "FOCUS". Just pick one niche (small market) with a few products to promote, and one method to reach the crowds interested in them. Only after you master it you can learn something new, never before or else you'll get distracted, overwhelmed, and most probably do nothing.

I don't stop here frequently but I'll keep an eye on this thread for you.

Affiliate marketing, a good start for people just beginning . . .
How do you want to start out?
Do you have funds/patience/willingness to learn to put up your own website? (Believe me, it's really not that scary.)
Or would you rather create a free one to get started?
Do you want to get visitors (called traffic) through a search engine like Google, which will take some time, or do you want to use other methods?
Whatever you do, I recommend building an email list along the way so you can build relationships with people and promote to them along the way.
Let me know if you need anything simplified . . .
    Welcome aboard!

I would caution you from buying anything in the WSO forum until you know more and have chosen a method to make money online, have a plan and a market.

I would advise that you join the War Room because there is a lot of great free information in there. However, until you have more knowledge, a method and a plan, that will probably just overwhelm and confuse you further.

There is a lot of information on here that is free so use the search feature on this forum and search for "newbie" to get the advice other newbies have gotten.

Realize that this is a business, like any other, and that there is no fast and easy or automatic way to make money regardless of what the headlines promise. I advise you not to buy anything in WSO or the classifieds on here unless and until it has been around for a while so that you get some honest reviews and so that you don't get scammed.

The reviews that come out immediately for a WSO are always from people who got free copies in order to give good reviews or could just be the person's friends.

There are a lot of methods. Pick one and focus, focus, focus on it for several months before moving on or trying anything else. Most newbies jump from one thing to another and never learn really any one method.

I like list building and suggest that regardless of what else you do, you do that.

    Good luck.

I want to encourage you by saying that you've already taken a step in the right direction by joining the Warrior Forum. That alone gives you an edge that some don't have, and you can really chop that learning curve down by participating here and asking questions like you've done in this thread.

If you want my honest opinion, before you spend money on a program or WSO join the War Room instead. Learn. Absorb. This whole experience should be about getting the information you need to proceed wisely. The important thing to remember here is that nothing anyone says or offers for sale is going to spit out $100 bills. This is a business like any other. It takes time and effort to build.

My best wishes to you in your journey.
