Gathering content for a website or a blog, Whats the proper way to collect this information? Is it basic spinning articles or is it having a resource? Do you guys have any tips on creating content specially when you feel like you ran out of content to write about... ?

Ah, usually research what already exists. Then create your own unique content based off of said research. If you can't come up with anything, hire someone who can.

I can't see the value in spinning at all any more.
Sites I had with spun content nose-dived after the Panda update. Having followed some VERY interesting threads on this forum regarding article syndicating, I tested syndicated content (exact reproduction of someone else's content, with full inclusion of their Resource box) and have found it outperforms spun content any day.
There's some great stuff out there, and if the author was good enough to write it, and then allow you to reproduce it, then, imho, they're entitled to their fair share of the traffic which visits it. They get this via the reproduction of their Resource box and, in exchange, I get greater love from both my visitors and from the SE's for keeping my sites updated with quality content. It's a win-win!

Content curation is kind of hot nowadays, I think you can get many information/resources of your interested topics from scoop.it or paper.li

    Cheers!

    Hey SEOadvice,

What if you really have unique content? What is your opinion about that, and also do you have any experience with curation?

see what people are talking about in forums etc and answer or talk about it. I used to also be quite confused on whats next to write but when you start reading about other people's questions etc, its easy to find something to write/say.

  • If you don't want to write the content yourself or pay someone you can then get the articles from an article directory like Ezine Articles. Just remember to include all the original links.

I feel (sort of anyways) for those whose spun article filled websites fell to the bottom of the rankings recently.

But only because I know a lot of them worked hard in other areas to try to get their sites ranked high using the tricks of the trade at the time.

Personally, as a regular Joe searching the net, I love that sites with a bunch of spun material are dropping fast. Remove yourself from the "marketing and making a buck" mindset for a minute and think about when you legitimacy went to search for something, and the top results were filled with garbage sites that looked like someone paid a kid in a dungeon $1.27 to write a 300 word article, and then proceeded to throw it in a blender and throw the random text all over his pages.

write them yourself! cheaper.. you can write the way you want it.. and it helps you to relax (well it does for me).....

but if you're into out-sourcing.. plenty of writers here that will help you.. i think prices are as low as 60 cents/100 words?

If you are looking to outsource check with local newspaper/web site editors. I used to work for a newspaper and many of the reports/web editors did work like this on the side.

They are very competent, understand writing and many are severely underpaid and need the money. It can work well.

        Good luck.

I really don't recommend using spun content in the context of search engine rankings (for other uses, sure, if it's well spun). It's easy to come up with new ideas for content, if that is your problem.

You can set up Google alerts for your keywords, and when another site posts something interesting, write about it on your site and include a link back to their site. It's a good idea to quote part of the other website's content when you do this, also - perhaps one or two paragraphs.

Alternatively, you can look to other subniches within your general niche for topics. For example, if your site is about dieting, you can also write about exercise routines, equipment, and other areas that fall under the more general health and fitness niche. Your visitors will consider this perfectly normal.

If you don't want to write the content yourself, you can turn to a writer here on the Warrior Forum or elsewhere.

      Best Regards,
      Jon

A way to find what topics to write is to see what questions people are asking, that too frequently, at sites like Yahoo Answers, and then create one or series of articles on the topic.

Spinning is a waste and will get you very little in the way of positive long term results. You can outsource the content to a writer and have them write it for you.

That is the best way without going down the dreaded auto blog route.

Don't spin, it isn't worth it. It creates a poor user experience.

You are a good writer, I've read your stuff. Just go on blogs and forums in your niche and read about hot new topics and you'll be filled with ideas. If you are really in need of content and don't have time to write it you can buy PLR and rewrite it or hire a writer. Just be sure to get samples before hiring so you know you will get good quality work!
