hello fellow warriors,

I just created a squeeze page on the IM niche.

is just a squeeze page enough? (at least for a start)
or would it be better to build a blog first?

what is your opinion on this?

    Hi Mitsakis,
    It depends on your objective.

    If you just building a list, the squeeze page is enough for a start. You can send follow-up/broadcast your messages to your list.

    Nevertheless, having a blog would be an xtra bonus as you can connect to your subscribers easily. You can send an update on your latest blog post, in fact you can monetize your blog with affiliate offers.

    the IM niche is over saturated, people are wary of signing up to email lists. You have to give as much free useful content as possible, then maybe, MAYBE they will sign up to your list.

    You can also have a pretty static site that has around 10 really useful articles and a few instructional videos and an opt in form with a little disclaimer that the site is now an email blog and get pretty decent conversion rates.

      My suggestion is to start with writing a few "newsletter episodes" of content that you are going to be sending to people.

      If you have a couple of weeks of free time, you can write a few pretty decent articles.

      I think at this stage what is important is setting things up.

      1) Set up your first newsletter using Mailchimp (they are free until you reach 500 subscribers)
      2) Set up a blog
      3) Create an RSS feed
      4) Try to sign up 5-10 people to your blog RSS and your list..

      #4 will give you a basic idea of what's involved with signing up a few people.

      The importance of building a small following is that you are much more inspired to write content when you already have at least some audience you know who are going to read your blog.

      If you create content that is totally awesome, they will be the ones distributing it on Twitter, Facebook, etc... And perhaps even posting links back to your blog from theirs. This will build organic traffic to your blog.

      Now imagine you have 20 subscribers! Then 30,40,50... Once you reach 100 you will definitely be concerned with the quality of content you post in your blog because now you know people are watching you.

      It's a lot like people being hesitant to say something stupid in their Facebook feed because they know all of their friends are watching. This increases the quality of what they post.

      Here is something a lot of people underestimate...

      100 RSS subscriptions is incredibly powerful for someone who is just starting out. If after 3rd blog post they haven't unsubscribed, and you see that they continue coming to your blog (using Google Analytics), then this will give you more inspiration. Inspiration = Creativity. Creativity = awesome content. It's like a snowball effect.

      Imagine that every time you make a well thought-out blog post you earn 2 or 3 back-links. The greater your content the more back-links you will get.

      In about 6 months you will be able to get up to 500 subscriptions.

      Remember that at this point you can ask your blog RSS subscribers to join your mailing list too, which you can use to send them even more awesome content. It could be pre-written (auto-responder) or you can use the "campaign" feature of a newsletter site you're using (mailchimp,aweber?)

      Use your creativity to build a niche-based following and send them great content on that subject that they want to read. In the process of doing all of this, you will learn a lot and gradually become a better and better Internet Marketer.

        I agree 100% on that. I can start writing quality content but if nobody reads my blog it is all useless and I have no motivation to continue.

        I think I will start with a squeeze page and once I get about 50 subs I will think about starting a blog or something else.

        You idea sounds good but do you think a lot of people subscribe to RSS?
        I have never subscribed to any RSS

          This thought occurred to me recently when I realized that I write a better article when I am responding to a real person. . . same thing I did just now

          I was inspired to help a real person. I couldn't just sit down and write this to myself, because it would be incredibly boring.

          In fact, a lot of times I go back to my own Warrior posts in which I was helping someone and use that post as the starting point for writing an entire article. This creates much more potent content.

          Surprisingly, some people will never unsubscribe from your newsletter. Many will unsubscribe, but try not to focus on that. Just continue delivering high quality content, spend 2 days on one article, if you have to. Don't rush, edit it, etc.

          Anyway, just trying to help.

          It'll be interesting to see what results you will be getting in, say, 2 or 3 weeks from now. What about 2 months? I am sure you should have 10-20 subscribers by then.

    My suggest to you is to learn all that you can about marketing. There is much more then just blogs, landing page/squezze pages, and sales pages. There is how you treat your list once you have them and so much more.

    It all boils down to traffic to any of your pages. And that is were you can market like a mad man and still get no ware. So learn from people that are making money and have a no BS out look, that won't tell you that you can make it with a few clicks of a mouse.
