Posts on my Wordpress site won't delete

I have never had this problem on any of the dozens of WP sites I have built. I have a site that has 15 posts. I want to delete all of them, but when I try to do it in bulk or individually, nothing happens. I have tried in FF and IE. Anyone have any ideas?

Nothing happens OR do you delete them and there is WP Super Cache waiting to have cache deleted?

Never heard of similar issue... Weird.

I don't have WP Super Cache on this site. I just delete and nothing happens. It doesn't even look like it is trying to do anything....

Not meaning to sound mean - but can't you post this in the 'Warrior Support Forums' - there are two forums in there for website and programming help.

Try the delete cache link at the top of the wp-admin. Also ytou can connect directly to mysql database and delete the posts from there. I would backup the whole wordpress site and then reinstall worpdress as it seems like there is something wrong with it

Nevermind.... I think Hostgator may have been having database issues for a short time because it is working fine now. Thanks anyway!

Silly question, but have you tried to delete them one by one? It may be tedious and annoying, but if it works your problem would be solved. Best of luck.

    Hi Charity,

Without knowing what theme and plugins your using it's hard to say where the problem is coming from. Also, is this something that just started? Can you tie it to a particular event (ie: upgrade of WP, a plugin or your theme)?

I haven't ever had that happen before, but here are some thoughts...

The first thing I would do is make sure everything is up to date (WP, Plugins, Theme). While it shouldn't create the problem your experiencing...with recent updates to WP 3.3.1, I've seen some plugins that aren't updated & compatible yet and that may be the issue.

So here is what I would do...

Deactivate your plugins and try deleting the posts again. You can either do them all at once (which would show you immediately if a plugin is the problem) or one at a time. How you do it depends on your site and what works best for your situation. So if it's fixed with one (or more) plugins deactivated, you know that's the problem. If you do them all at once, just start reactivating them one by one and create a new test post then try to delete it after each. This way you can identify the culprit.

If it's not a plugin, I'd suggest looking at the theme next (it's a long shot, but you never know). What I would do is activate another theme on the site (preferably without plugins activated) and see if that enabled you to delete posts. If so, you know the theme is the problem, and you can proceed accordingly (ie: contact support for the theme).

If you aren't comfortable doing this on your live site, you can always use something like Desktop Server and run a test environment locally on your computer (I highly recommend this anyway).

If your still unable to delete the posts, you can delete them from the database by logging in to cPanel (assuming it's cPanel) and going to phpMyAdmin. Once your there, you will see the database created for WP. It will likely begin with your cpanel login name followed by an underscore and the db name (so if your login was "admin" it would be "admin_dbname".

Click on the WP database. Once you do, you will see a list of tables in the database. One of the tables is called "wp_comments."

Click on the "wp_comments" table and you will see a list of all comments beginning with the most current at the top. From here you can edit, copy or delete any comments.

The only thing about deleting the comments this way is we haven't identified WHY the problem was happening in the first place....so it will work, but you may still have the same issue going forward.

    Hope that helps!
