A True GOLDEN Opportunity. Buy Twinkies = Make $$$

An Iconic American Snack Company (Hostess) filed for bankruptcy.
This is their 2nd bankruptcy since 2004, and Hostess tried unsuccessfully
to find a buyer. I don't know if they'll make it out of this one, owing
over a billion dollars to creditors.

And...the first thought that came to my Entrepreneur wired brain was: "I should stock up on Twinkies, Ho Hos, and Ding Dongs, and sell them on eBay and Amazon after they go out of business".

Below is a good article on the history of Hostess.

How long will that food last before it expires though?

Perhaps you could try to find out or even purchase the recipes for these products and begin to produce them yourself.

    Just a thought.

It's a bit of an insult to call it food.

With all the chemicals in them, they should last a couple of hundred years at least.

HAHA, that is true. But who knows, someone may inject them full of vitamins and minerals in an attempt to sell them off as 'food'.

I think the idea is to sell 'authentic' twinkies after they go out of business. That's funny... authentic twinkies.

Twinkies last forever..they'll even survive a Zombie apocalypse.

I'm not really planning to stock up on Twinkies..it was just my first
      thought.

According to Family Guy, they will be here in the future.

Since the nuclear war hasn't happened yet, I know that Twinkies will be around for a bit longer.

This is actually a sad case of bad management. The problem here is that Hostess failed to re-invent themselves. This is also a good sign that America has taken a step in the healthy direction. My or our generation (the generation of processed foods) is over. The kids these days do not have much of a work ethic but they are starting to go in the non obese categories. Unlike myself and a few others of my generation. I like to call it Generation Fat...

Sh1t food is bigger than it ever was in America and its cheaper than ever. Its more a case of bad management than a new trend in cultural consumption.
Did you see the absolutely exacerbating documentary Jamie Oliver did? Americans adore cheap, crap food.

From what I've read...it looks like the real problem was employee costs were just too high. Union drivers couldn't unload their own truck, etc... list goes on and on.

    You are absolutely right.
When I was an eBay junkie I used to sell promotional candy. Candy that came out for a short period and then they did not make it no more. I would buy a candy bar for .50 cents and sell it on ebay six months later for 5.00. Heck I would buy cases.

I would still do it if I would not have gotten into trouble for selling food products without a health permit. Yeap a snitch in the mist.

P.S. I'm in Texas, may be different in other states and the laws may have changed by now.

Yes, for my state (but not all I guess) it's okay to sell the food products if they are prepackaged commercial food...you don't need a permit. You only need the permit if you are making the food yourself.

You are right Legit...the unions have wasted Hostess. End of story, plain and simple. Funny idea about selling twinkies on ebay though, lol but if Hostess does not make it out of BK this time it's more popular brands will be sold and spun off to other companies so in the end someone else will still be making and selling twinkies and dingdongs...just not Hostess.
