How to make an internet marketing info product

I feel like I keep getting the same pitch over, and over, and over again. The only thing that changes is the 'super-affiliate' or 'internet-millionaire' giving the pitch.

At this point I keep hearing the same damn stuff:
1. You used to have a job you hate.
2. You have a wife and kid and travel a lot.
3. You started making money online and now you're rich (insert clickbank screenshot here).
4. Clickbank is the golden ticket, you can find a niche by searching for product with high gravity.
5. Find an exact match domain with low keyword competition.
6. Submit a bunch of articles to article directories.
BOOM- get rich.

Well that sounds like the typical GURU and clickbank group, not all internet marketers.

If I were you I would get off all those email lists and find 2 or 3 that you really trust and that will give you honest advice.

When I finally did that and started focusing on just 3 different marketers advice, my whole online marketing career took off.

    Cheers

Thanks, Trish! Any specific lists you recommend?

        Trish is right...

Listen to what experts say, and ignore people who send you those messages.

They pretty much brainwash you (they call it pre-selling) by using language and psychology, and then shove their product into your face.

That isn't a honest contribution. People are naturally selfish creatures...so, you have to figure a lot of these things out by yourself.

I only started to make progress when I started putting my own energy to work. I didn't use tricks or "secrets" (I have no idea what they are). Just learn and draw logical conclusions... experiment, be creative.

You will end up giving your money away to the people who try to talk you into buying their products on false promises. Unless... you take responsibility and take action yourself. Don't wait for anyone else....

I think that's a bit harsh to generalise all Internet Marketing products like that. Maybe it depends on the types of lists and types of people you're getting emailed from.

Personally I believe the best people are the ones who've been around a while and teach solid fundamentals. Basic direct response marketing and are in it for the long run (not the short haul).

Second it depends on what type of business model you want to pursue. Paid traffic, organic traffic, affiliate or product creator?

If an Internet Marketer cannot create a product that has nothing to do with Internet Marketing... then we all must criticize them very harshly.

I am tired of seeing IM products about IM. As if every single person's passion is Internet Marketing.

They should teach how to write, how to create great content, how to create a following interested in your work... things that matter and make this profession fun.

Instead, they advertise themselves by saying things like "10,000 list subscribers in 1 month!" or "$500 per day!" They are targeting clueless people, and misinforming them, because people who run lists know that there isn't an easy way for a beginner to manage a list like that.

They are also incredibly deceiving about what really matters. What matters is personal development, discipline, your love for what you do, writing awesome articles...and the importance of distributing your content.

I am sure that there are honest Internet Marketers out there. Like in any industry, there is always a little light in the midst of a large cloud of darkness and general ****tiness.

The Internet is a gold mine. And we are bombarded with so many pointless messages. We have to learn how to distribute our content to masses of people who want to read it. Nobody is focusing on that, because most people pursue self-interest.

How many more "Get Rich Quick" offers are out there? It's not that when they are bought people never learn anything from them... It's that by advertising them in that way, people who don't buy... get the wrong impression that there is a way to do this quick... so they go on their personal journey with a false expectation, and get disappointed.

You know... that is how this type of pursuit of self-interest inadvertently leads people in the wrong direction, making this whole industry a bigger and bigger pile of ****.

        Iriss,
You are wrong. Many of the successful 7 figure IM'ers actually started online making money in non IM niches (people like willie Crawford started in cooking ebooks) but as they were successful provided the info on how they were doing so.
There are hundreds of non IM niches (even though the IM niche is one of the biggest) that can make anyone money but this is an IM forum so you'll generally only hear about the IM/make money niche. That's what the 400,000 members here want!

I'm not talking about the numbers. I am talking about intentions.

Salesmen, which is what all IM'ers are, are not very great people because they don't create anything - they repackage content and find ways to distribute it to people for personal profit. period. It just makes you sound stupid if you think that this is not true.

Now I'm confused! Internet marketing is about marketing (selling) products or services. There's very few new things in life as most things have already been done so evolve or enhanced.
Sorry are you coming onto a marketing forum to lambast people for making profits from marketing products or services?

Yup. Number 7: Buy my $297 backend product.

You should focus on 10 traffic strategies and make sure your site is proven to convert. Drive crazy traffic to it and then profit. Then you can ignore the people who keep spamming you with their "30k in 30 days" claims.

If you are tired of seeing these IM products, then stop buying them and get off their list. Start a plan and go through with it. Create quality websites with quality content, solve a problem, get involved in your niche with facebook, twitter, youtube, forums, etc. Build trust with you site visitors - and eventually create a product and sell it to them that solves their problem....just STOP with the "shiny objects"!

It really boils down to quality. If your product is going to help some people and you know it then the only things that is left is delivering it to the public in some format.
Nowadays, the format is a sales letter with a lot of pictures, hype etc. It is like that because it works. Although I believe some of the product would sell mch better if the sales letetr wouldnt be so aggressive.

I'm not sure if all internet marketing products follow quite the same content (although to be fair I wouldn't really know seeing as I don't buy them)

but the format of the sales videos is generally the same.

This is because its the traditional story arc. I was down here, I went on a journey, I faced challenges, and now I'm at a this new better place.

It's Star Wars with SEO in the place of Lightsabers.

I guess you didn't see a lot of info products so far, right? I mean, that story was popular years ago, although some people are still using it...

Online business is much complex than that and no, you won't get rich for submitting articles to directories... you need much more than that... but it's not hard at all...

Besides that, why would you want to create an info product before you actually found out what works for you, or what worked for you and made you rich? If you want to make that type of info product, you must wait to become rich first... in other situation, you can make an info product about some other subject you know something about... like, how to build a website or how to get twitter followers, whatever... there are many ways and subjects for IM info products...

As mentioned above you need to get off the lists of click to bank marketers and follow just a few key individuals that are in a niche that interests you and are making money at it without boasting and shouting about it.

For me I like using online marketing for offline business and follow people who are achieving in this field.

My advice is pretty similar to everyone else's here really. Stop buying these products, and that way you won't feel let down when the program does not work for you. Also, change your mindset, and become a marketer, not a buyer.

By doing this, you can better analyze the best sales letters that convert, and use what works but in your own words.

Hope this has helped in some small way.

    Rob.

My best advice is to turn apples into oranges. Look for those products that are selling well and get a large response. Even if they are "car salesman-ish". Don't buy the product, instead, look at how they are selling it. Study the copy, layout, design and every little thing about it. There will be hidden gems throughout.

Take the information you learned on how they are selling their product and apply similar principals to your product. Sales tactics work, in any niche. Learn the art of marketing and selling and you can sell anything.

Yup - pretty common story I'm afraid. Plus the down and out who made millions, the former super market shelf stacker, former model (presumably she is so dumb anyone can do it), the more up market sells fronted by (obvious) actors etc. etc.

There are many ways other than Clicbank to make money online (as someone already said). The problem to my mind is that when you first start out there is so much information promising instant riches you tend to dive in and buy this rubbish.

I think the cycle goes something like this:
    1) Brand squeaky new - believe it is easy and quick to make money online
    2) Buy crappy ovehyped products that justify this mind set
    3) Waste days, weeks, months trying to make old re-hashed garbage from 2008 work - oops it didn't
    4) Give up/ don't give up (strength of character applies here)
    5) Have a good talk with yourself
    6) Realise you need someone, somewhere to show you what to do (mentor)
    7) Drop on such a person (luck or otherwise)
    8) Start to see the wood for the tress
    9) Work bloody hard and get your first taste of success
    10) Believe in yourself and the fact that you can be successful online
    11) Focus on a limited number of quality ideas
    12) Work even harder and see even better results
    13) (Friday 13th) Wonder why you were so naiive in the first place

That's my take on it anyway!
