Hi Everyone

I want to create an ebook as a freebeie for people to sign up for.

How long should this be. I don't want to bore them and I also want to make sure I'm giving them enough information.

    Length is not the issue, content is. What problem is your ebook trying to address? If your ebook solves an issue and contains only 1 page, then so be it.

      What people say and what they do can be quite contrary.

      About everyone would say that length doesn't matter and it's the
      quality of the content that is most important but you sell them
      an ebook with 2 pages for $97 and you'll see the reaction.

      Length is less important than quality of content but people
      still associate bulk with value. Would they confess this?
      Normally no, but they show it in their actions.

      People want to "feel something" when they spend their
      money. Some marketers call it the "thud factor".

    It is the content that is important most of all rather than how many pages you have.

    I have written three Ebooks myself and have found the best have been the step by step guides.
    This coupled with direct info, for instance, go here, go there, do this and that.

    Seem to do best and of course plenty of images.

    Just be sure that you make it easy to read and include lots of step by step instructions. People really seem to appreciate those. Also, it wont' hurt to look around at other blogs in your niche and find out what they are offering. That way you can get an idea of what the "standard" is.

    Or you can think of your offer as a "special report". If you really want to put a number to that, I'd say 15-20 pages of quality content would be good.

    It really depends on the topic. An ebook on picking out the right bathing suit for your body type would be significantly shorter than an ebook on how to launch the space shuttle - but both have value, if they're written the right way

    I've gotten some free ebooks that were 20 pages, some that were 50 pages, and some that were 10 pages. As long as people get the information they need in an interesting way - and in a way that encourages them to think of you as an expert when they're finished reading - it doesn't matter how long you make it.

    Some ebooks take 30 pages to answer the topic properly whereas I have received ebooks that are only 5 pages in total that have given me some great info.

    So if you can answer the question in a few pages then go with it - it is free after all. High quality content is important so there is no point filling it with padding just to get to 30 pages.

    Don't be afraid to use colorful headers, fonts and images. This will increase the make your ebook "easier on the eye" and will add to the total page count. Good luck with it

    I think that even a 3 page ebook can be great value if you have some cool information inside.

    The purpose of this task is not to impress with your literature skills, but to give to the reader a "aha, I didn't knew that" moment.

    I agree with everyone else, it all depends on the content and what exactly the ebook is about. I've seen plenty of great ebooks that are only a few pages long. As an example - If you were giving away a report with 50 edu websites that can be good backlinking that wouldn't need to be more than 2 pages but lots of people would be extremely happy with it.

    You have already recieved some pretty good answers about the length of your eBook, it really does depend on the content that you are trying to deliver.

    However to give a more specific answer I usually recommend that a short report is about 2500 words minimum.

    You should also bear in mind that you can always add additional information later or make alterations if you would like. Even if the first edition of your report is not perfect you can at least start to develop your list.

    It should be as long as it needs to be in order to deliver the quality information they signed up for. Over deliver on what you promise them with some seriously good stuff that will actually help them..

    Yea, it is not about how long it is. I have bought ebooks of only 5 pages that were better than most 100 page ebooks! No fluff and pure gold is what you want to deliver!

    I would again say the content is more important than the number of pages, I would maybe start with a report as long as the quality is good then your subscribers will come back for more...

    Put yourself in the shoes of a buyer. Would you be happy if an e-book contained only one page. What about nine? A rough rule of thumb is that people want to pay a penny per page. Therefore a good size is over nine. They feel they are at least getting a dime's worth of value instead of a penny.

    Can't you do something more creative? Like a video series, a free website evaluation or a webinar?

    Come on man. Everyone has their dumb ass ebook and I just don't freaking care any more...

    Make it around 50-100 pages. If you know alot about your niche, then creating more ebooks within your niche should be a cinch. Typically bulk assumes value, but sometimes, 10-page ebooks are better than the 100 page ebooks. But you can pack so much volume into a 100-page ebook, that your reader will be able to find something incredibly useful that was worth reading your ebook.

    I agree with Ray, but I do see a trend of shorter ebooks, due in part to people having less time to read. Also, many seem quite satisfied to buy shorter ebooks (15 -20 pages) and leave positive comments about them in forums and on blogs.

    When I started writing ebooks, I thought anything less than 50 pages would be viewed as 'skimpy' but I'm not seeing that reaction today.

      That's an interesting observation.

      When I wrote my first ebook on a traffic generation trick it could have
      been explained in 2 pages but I knew people would want to buy
      something so small for $37 so I added value by talking about
      other traffic generation methods.

      Some customers thought that the book could be shorter but
      I knew that human nature plays against common sense
      sometimes. Books are still judged by their covers and their
      lengths.

      I know that the typical Warrior would just want the nuts
      and bolts and "no fluff" but this is still a closed community.
