Lol ... Is Google's New Social Search an Epic Fail Before it Even Gets Started?

I think google is doing something close to facebook... something social, .... but I think google is not doing well with social media (+1).... they're just naturally search engine, and there's a possibility that facebook will take over the "search engine" since facebook has its own search engine in their website. ...

Social results? Then mix Facebook, Twitter, Flickr into my Google search experience. Not Google+ or Picasa. Noone's in my social circles (including my followers, readers, customers) using these, even if I've tried to lure my people to them.
I've read a lot on this issue, and I can talk about it 'till morning. But I'm gonna cut it short (because thinking about it is not good for my blood pressure lol). I'm not a fan of this change. Another non-fan is Twitter. Seen this?

I dont see any benefits to this shift, except for Google pimping G+

BTW - Im still p*ssed at the GA team for removing the search referral data. GA is practically useless now.

Yeah, I'm hoping they re-think this one before it's too firmly entrenched. Might make my Bing adspend more lucrative though...

Google are messing around with their core flag ship offering which works very well as it is, it just needs careful attention and subtle changes, not this bullsh*t

I do my part by, never having clicked a +1 ... In my book it's always been a fail and beyond any anti-trust issues I was always unclear how it was going to be manageable and sustainable in and open system such as the internet at large.

IMO the only way the exec's at the big "G" could have believed that the experiment would work, is if they were also pretentious enough to believe they are the internet, and I'm certain to a point they do.

The brilliance in the +1 model is that if a snowball effect "would have" occurred, the +1 could have become a sort of SEO currency, controlled by "The Bank Of G". Fortunately it seems, at least to me, the experiment is in fact failing. But beware, they are certainly planning their next move to continued dominance and what they learn here will help their efforts.

"G" is not the internet they are merely, currently, the biggest player. I am an advocate of their software systems and have even used their browser since it became available, however, I in no way wish to see any one entity yield this much power within a system they have no ownership rights to and like the rest of us are merely guests within, e.g. the internet.

Remember the old guys at school trying to get into your "social network" kicking you in the n$#?

What I really hate about the whole "+1" is the fact that google are forcing it down everybody's neck!!

You are being practically forced, kicking and screaming to use google +, you cant open a google account in any form now without joining +.

In general people dont like being forced into anything, we like to make our own decisions.

I think its just pain wrong, no doubt some people believe its their business and site, so they can do as they wish, but I hope it back fires on them in a big way

G+ is a big fail, and the few times when i searched and then i got some very private "profile pages" on the side as search result i was VERY confused.

I was looking for "SEO" and then on the side it showed the profile of the owner of SeoMOZ with details about his family, wife..what they like to eat etc..

TOTALLY IRRELEVANT idiotic idea to incorporate this into search results.

I think Google is betting with the search engine. Its war on social media seems to bring Google down before others.

Just to enforce G+, doesn't means you get your most successful product down.

Google risk is affecting all of its products, since they have been cracking both Adsense and Adwords account in the same time trying manipulate the results.

Adsense click rate has dropped as the competition is lower than normal. I have camping on Microsoft, since the changes, I am getting much higher number of click with much less than my budget on adsense ever.

I don't think this increase coming from my camping as much as coming from more people using Bing these days.

Don't hate me, but all those "social sites" can go to hell.

Being in IM for years, so i recently started with facebook. EVERYTHING there is annoying, creating a page is a joke..privacy settings etc. are ridiculous.

Those people have a BILLION $$$ budget but cant produce anything better than what they have right now.

If i make a page and start commenting on other's facebook pages, my totally irrelevant comments appear on my own page as "activity" and i cannot even turn that off.

I see the most idiotic fanpages with millions of likes which are just senseless, moronic pages titled like "My Mom told me to get up but then i go back to bed because i like sleeping more than getting up"-type kind of pages...with senseless posts etc..

Twitter i ALWAYS hated from the first minute.

Ive been monitoring a keyword for a site I currently have ranked in 2nd spot, and over the past 2 weeks, 3 out of the top 10 search results are now G+

My site is slowly being "swallowed up" or so it seems by Google Plus

Having said that, Im now sitting here thinking....

"Do I start pushing G+ to preserve my rankings?"
"Are searchers being naturally drawn to the results that contain the author box graphic?"
"Will my sites profit be affected in any way?"

Overall, its not an ideal situation at all, and one cant help but think, that a typical reaction would be to simply "jump onboard" which is exactly what Google wants.

Why cant they just be a search engine?

Google Plus was/is a natural evolution of the search engine giant considering the popularity and impact of social media. However, I think it was doomed from it's conception. Facebook is just too big and very easy to use even for the most casual of internet users. Google is just trying to keep themselves relevant and who can blame them? Facebook is steadily eclipsing Google in the amount of traffic they receive.

Who wants to socialize on a site run by a multi-billion dollar company that has a forum for a customer service department, and more double standards than a four-pointed flagpole.

Hopefully G+ will prove an expensive white elephant and Facebook will start a search engine

The social search is very annoying indeed, it drives me crazy seeing some pointless results. I agree too with the above, some pages are dulled down with that and even some youtube results, although some tend to be relevant. Bringing the social aspect right in your face is what really is bothering everyone, make it a search stop shoving it in everyones face.

People use google because their search is great, yahoo and bing's is subpar and everyone is so use to it. They are playing with fire by throwing garbage in the mix of the results.

even if other social sites wanted to be involved, and last time I checked Facebook weren't interested because they hate Google lol and Twitter didn't renew the agreement.

Still, it would stuck .. when I search I don't wanna see what my friends have looked at.

Like others have said, they should stick to what they do best.

If they want to make a go of a social network, good for them, but at the rate they're going they'll just trap us in their own sticky version of the internet.

It would be great if we had a good alternative, but Bing still really sucks.

I don't get the point of people knowing what you search. It seems like it'll be either embarrassing by the esoteric subjects people search or useless because I know my friends don't care much about what I search. Maybe Google is going somewhere with this and we don't know it.
