10% open rate and how to increase it!

Hi guys,

I usually get 10 to 15% open rates when I broadcast my message to my list... do you consider this open rate a good one? And in addition to playing with the subject line, how can you get more members to open your email? Is it just a matter of "Timing"? Thanks for sharing your tips!

    My open rate varies between 10 - 25% so I would say that your rate is pretty good. The only thing that I've gotten to improve opens is by focusing on the list itself. When I capture names with a house list (some type of offer) and send a follow up email, my open rates are at their highest.

    Your open rates are low compared to what I average.

    If you develop a reputation for providing value, your list will tend to be more responsive to your messages.

    Overall, the key is "Relevance".

    People will read your emails (and stay on your list) if what you are sending is relevant to them.

    The number in itself is meaningless because it is impossible to track open-rate with any accuracy due to email software blocking the 1 pixel image tracking method that's commonly used.

    So just use it as a benchmark and get it moving in the right direction - upwards.

    It's a bit like your weight when you're on a diet - don't focus on how many pounds you are. Just focus on getting it heading in the right direction.
